Tottenham and Chelsea will face off next in the Premier League with their managerial styles in focus again.
Jose Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in the game, and the Portuguese manager has achieved so much success by avoiding any exciting attacking brand of football.
He is more of a pragmatic manager and something of an old school in the world of management.
Tuchel, on the other hand, is one of the new school managers who want their team to play possession-based attacking football.
The German achieved success with that style at Borussia Dortmund and PSG, and he is expected to make Chelsea an exciting team to watch while also winning trophies.
Ahead of their Thursday showdown, Mail Sport has previewed the game and claim that it will be an exciting watch as attack faces defence, in reference to how both managers set their teams up to play.
They write: “Chelsea will be buoyed in the wake of Tottenham’s recent performances and results, losing 3-1 at home to Liverpool before producing an insipid display in the 1-0 defeat away at relegation-threatened Brighton.
“But Mourinho will be eager to put that right and shut his critics up on Thursday night against his old club and a manager who is just as intricate as his counterpart when it comes to preparing his team for the next match.
“It will be a fascinating managerial battle with two different philosophies on display, with Tuchel hoping for his Chelsea side to play intense, attacking football compared to a Mourinho side who will sit in and try to kill their London rivals on the counter.”
If only I was that psychic!
Harry I did digest your contentious replies with interest!!
Simply put you are wrong about Alli and despite their yearly losses overlook several Foxes astute transfers!
We’ve covered this.
The Chelsea game is a loss.
Did you read any of my other replies?
Brilliant your predicted 9 men.
I would put a lot of money on us losing on Thursday night if the odds were good which they won’t be. I just hope we don’t get hammered.
It’s strange although it should not be to us spurs fans how united and our season has changed since we thumped them at old Trafford. We have stumbled and are now on our knees while united although not completely perfect have shown some signs of the United under fergie. They have a brilliant away record the best in the league and a pretty decent home record which if it matched there away record they would top there Manchester rivals. Looks like another good year for Manchester of one colour or another and another season of there is always next year at spurs. Maybe next year santa.
No joy from Utd though. 2 games in hand but….
Gazza.
10 men
4 nil up Man Utd are rampant against 9 men Saints!
Personally I can’t see where our next 3 points are coming from??
Yet another result goes Jose’s way….Arsenal could av leapfrogged tonight but found themselves on the end of 2 reds??
It’s getting uncanny…
Given our low confidence, low self esteem and mental fragility is anybody seriously contemplating a Spurs win??!
Sorry to say it but on the last few performances I fear more bad news on Thursday night. I fear some of the players look disillusioned and uninterested even though it’s Chelsea I have a bad feeling about this one. Hope I’m wrong.
Nice to see a reaction against Chelsea but then again I thought there’d be response after Liverpool. Don’t know if Tanguy is out but if he is then with Kane that’s our two most creative players out. Time for Gareth to start contributing.
Yes indeed H, a Fabulous February, Marvellous March, Astounding April and a Magnificent May, please.
