Tottenham are reportedly one of a number of clubs interested in a potential transfer deal for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.
The France international is barely playing for his current club at the moment, and is nearing the end of his contract, putting Spurs and other Premier League clubs on alert, according to 90min.
The report suggests that a move to England could be the most likely next outcome for Dembele, but we think Spurs need to stay well away from this signing.
Even if Dembele is close to becoming a free agent, it’s hard to see how this move could possibly be worth it after his recent struggles with both fitness and form.
There’s no doubt Dembele showed tremendous potential in his time at Borussia Dortmund, but he’s never looked close to replicating that form in more than four years at the Nou Camp.
Spurs might well be tempted to gamble on the 24-year-old and try to get him back to his best – he still has many years of his career ahead of him after all – but there must be more reliable options out there.
