Sources: Euro 2020 Tournament Kicked Back To Next Summer

By The Boy -

The odds of football returning to a state that’s anything close to business as normal may have taken a significant dent, with The Athletic reporting that this summer’s European championship has been provisionally rescheduled to next summer.

The Premier League along with every other professional division has obviously been suspended, and one current view is that this initial period is one to allow the sport’s authorities to collect their thoughts and then work on medium-term strategy.

UEFA, being mindful of the individual league’s immediate desire to wrap up their own championships, before getting involved in the European one.

Quite what the outcome of the Premier League’s discussions will be is anyone’s business. To play the outstanding games behind closed doors?

The postponement of the Euros would surely be a good thing for Spurs fans worried about Harry Kane lapsing into his usual routine of being incapable of turning a game down. A lack of football after such a long time out wouldn’t be a bad idea for the 26-year-old, at all.

This video on the Coronavirus is worth watching.

If the PL is recommenced in May as I alluded to earlier too what happens with the league matches for Man.Utd. and City and Wolves and unlikely Chelsea? They are still involved in Europe. These mini tournaments would need to start after the leagues have finished. If the outstanding PL matches were played twice a week that’s only an extra five weeks, not so long.

Apparently the CL could turn into a tournament style affair set over 3 weeks at the same time as the current Euros. The PL could be delayed to start until May. I am very interested to see how the lawyers and law makers handle contracts and sponsorships, TV rights and everything…but to be honest – we know very little about the future of this, and the actions that will be taken, so i would guess we will get no straight answers unti April/May

There is absolutely no reason for Kane to come back too soon now.My feeling is the PL will resume in early/late summer perhaps playing twice a week to complete.
Push the new season back perhaps 6-8 weeks, have pre-season but no crazy long haul tours just home based friendlies.CL can start a month later than normal and finish nearer Christmas. No friendly international breaks next season.
