Some of the Tottenham players want 51-year-old to be appointed as manager

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for their former manager Mauricio Pochettino as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte.

The 53-year-old Italian will be out of contract in the summer and Tottenham do not plan to extend history at the club.

Following his explosive rant after the draw against Southampton, there have been rumours that Conte could be sacked before the end of the season.

A number of managers have been linked with the Tottenham job in recent weeks but Sky Sports claim that many Tottenham players want Mauricio Pochettino to take over as the club’s next head coach.

Apparently, some of them have already reached out to the Argentine regarding a return to the club.

The 51-year-old manager is currently out of a job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain and the opportunity to return to Tottenham is likely to be a tempting proposition.

Pochettino helped Tottenham challenge for the league title and the Champions League during his time at the club and he helped develop players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

The Argentine will probably feel that he has unfinished business at Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy can get a deal across the line.

Meanwhile, Pochettino is likely to wait until the summer before making a decision on his future. It appears that the 51-year-old is not keen on taking over midway through the campaign.
