Sky Sport’s Tottenham Infographic Is Packed With Doomsday Data

By The Boy -

If Spurs continue upon the same perilous course under Nuno Espírito Santo, then we will be lucky to avoid relegation. These numbers aren’t new as such, we’ve been charting in this direction for weeks.

Yesterday, against Manchester United, Tottenham was abysmal to watch, with most fans booing for concerted portions of the game. Nuno was booed, as were his substitutions, as was Harry Kane, and there was generally booing in between. Tottenham had 9 shots on the United goal, none of which were actually on target.

The phrase too good to go down is likely to be wheeled out in a matter of days…

He’s actually available right now, Eriksen. Inter ‘have to sell him’ as Italian football won’t let him play.

Makes you wonder whether he would sign a pay-for-play-style contract somewhere or whether he is just going to retire….

With all due respect Eriksen was in a different class, everything went through him and Dele gained his fame from the Dane’s ability to find him. It’s no coincidence that since Eriksen downed tools because of his relatively measly reward and fallout with the bald troll and ENIC that our demise began and has accelerated. We miss him more than anybody.
This noticeably rubbed off on Toby and Rose too, others likely felt the same but just didn’t show it so much. I notice the low wage regime didn’t apply to Levy.
Everything accelerated like mad with the Fernandez and Dybala cons and the shafting of Poch.

Dele signed a reported £150k a week deal in 2018. Winks and Davies also signed new deals in 2019. Eric Dier did the same in 2020. When players take the money in this respect and don’t perform for 3 permanent (and a caretaker) managers, I cannot see the link to Eriksen.

I agree that Levy significantly neglected the squad, new faces are always needed (if the right ones are brought in and I can’t think of many in the last 4 years who are) but offering new contracts to the likes of Dele et al has cost us far more pain than not giving Eriksen more money. As for world class, he rarely turned up against the big teams, even before his contract sulk.

All players have a responsibility to play for the Club and its fans, we are not getting that and I am not solely placing blame on Nuno. These players obviously had enough of Poch, Jose and now Nuno. In the meantime they are stealing money that fans put in their pockets.

So many poor stats but the 9 goals in 10 games is damning.

Just been out for Sunday lunch at a bar run by Gooners. That was fun.

‘relegation scrap’

SpursGoliath

Said it before but this season I wouldn’t mind a elevation scrap due to:

1) putting a big ol’ cat among the pigeons at Spurs and wake up the owners

2) just to have some more meaningful games come Spring 2022

3) if we actually get relegated the owners might sell up/Levy might walk and/or we might actually win the Championship when we get ourselves together in that division – at least it’s be different. I’d take different.

The toxicity began back when Levy refused to pay Eriksen what he was worth as a world class player, he then pulled the same stunt with Toby. That sort of nonsense doesn’t go unnoticed by the players, especially when the culprit makes himself a billionaire for essentially neglecting the squad.

Relegation form in other words. Something has to be done to stop the rot or it will only get worse and we will continue our slide down the table. Okay relegation is unlikely at the moment, but if the confidence goes and the dressing room is lost, then anything is possible.

Man City had 14 managers in 24 years between 1974-98 and ended up in the third tier. However, there was a common factor behind the scenes as Tony Book was in charge of coaching for the entire period. Joe Royle takes over, sacks Book, who left the club and the steady climb back up the ladder began. Is there someone in the Spurs background team who is having the same effect.

What do people expect with a system Nuno has in place, I think many of the players are not at their best level of form, and there are no signs that things will improve anytime soon.

As a fan group we must have been especially wicked in some previous existence, hence we have been visited by the most dreadful karma.

Yes, Harry, I caught a glimpse of those stats on MOM last night. They make dismal reading with a 14th our best placing on that list. Makes you wonder how we are 8th! Last seven games, we’ve lost five, scored less than one goal per game and conceded more than two per game. Exciting stuff!

4 coaches in 3 seasons ..with another likely to go…what is it they are buying into. This is football.

The players are responsible to do the basics. To get fit, run for the cause, chasse, harry the opposition, no? After all they do get paid to represent the Club.

I agree the stats are pretty damning and why anyone would pay 75 and upwards to watch that fare is quite mind boggling. Nuno is a decent man but seems out of his depth although quite honestly getting a better return out of much of that squad would not be easy.
With the international break upcoming that would appear to be an ideal time to part with Nuno given Levy’s history in these matters. In the absence of an available candidate he I assume will turn to Mason and Powell in the short term.
On the current stats we appear to be overachieving in relation to our current league position and I certainly envisage at best a mid table position this season.
Fortunately for us we have some points in the bank which gives the club breathing space.
Our predicament is totally one of neglect from Levy and however he chooses to deflect attention it is down to him. What we as a club did to deserve scholar sugar Lewis and Levy beggars belief.

Sick of repeating ourselves but the manager and players aren’t the problem. They’re symptoms.

For me it all just an inconvenience Levy and the board. Just the bad PR Levy’s ego cannot cope with. Our managers are Paradigms of one another …slot in do as your told. How many layers has Levy slipped into place to pretend his isn’t in control….
Excluding those looking for a short tenure and a long holiday who would come to Spurs..no one worth a light.
Dele and Winksy are my choice dresses as Playboy Bunnies on the touch line…why not makes as much sense as anything else.

Nuno must go, but this mess is not entirely his fault. His brand of football is, as stated by Roy Keane, boring, but Jose wasn’t much better in my opinion. At least he got Kane playing. However, not even the great Jose got many others to follow suit in trying to ‘explode’.

There is something toxic at Tottenham, it has been there a few years and I am not even thinking of Levy. The toxicity is in the squad, one that wasn’t rejuvenated and was allowed to fester, whilst its crown jewels were either flogged to death, sold or both (Walker, Dembele, Eriksen, Rose, Toby, Jan). What remains is a bunch of players who were used to international football and Champions League, but they were not instrumental in getting us there. They were bit parts riding a golden path laid by others, but these have become the leaders by default to our recent signings.

We know who these charlatans are; Dele leads the pack and from my viewpoint you can include Dier, Winks, Davies and Sanchez. I was glad Aurier and Sissoko packed their bags but many more needed to do the same. These are players who are simply not good enough but hold too much sway in the changing room and on the pitch. Player power dominates the game, but we usually see this in teams like Utd and Chelsea (or is it teams managed by Jose?). Do our players have a right to dictate to our managers? It isn’t as though they have a winner’s medal in any capacity to show they should be heard.

Ndom, Lo Celso. Reggie and others would have come in to our Club and seen that you didn’t need to put in too much of a shift. I cannot see Son and Kane giving the players a kick up the backside, they lead in other ways, so who was it down to? Hojbjerg? He was brand new to this set up last season and must have bitten his tongue when he saw what was going on. Last night on MOTD he inferred something wasn’t right, but wasn’t willing to go further. Man Utd had this with Sanchez and Lukaku, still have it with Pogba, but at least these guys could turn it on every now and again. We have wage thieves going through the motions.

I think it is obvious Nuno has lost the changing room, I doubt he has ever known where it was, but where do we go from here? Palace has shown that a monumental change in style can happen straight away. We have better players than Palace in all positions, bar Gallacher (I do like him), and I would rather see Spurs go down fighting, playing the sort of football I want to see, rather than this death through a thousand no shots.

Whether we can find a manager who can get a tune out of this dysfunctional lot remains to be seen. Poch couldn’t and Jose couldn’t, so how was Nuno going to? However, I don’t want to give Nuno time, I have seen enough, but I have also seen enough of this team. You can’t blame Nuno for taking the job, although he had to know what he was going in to, no? At least he’ll get a great pay-off and his reputation won’t be damaged too much. I just wish he would call the individuals out. He is a dead man walking, so take some of these time-wasters with you. They simply cannot be allowed to get away with it.

We need players willing to leave it all on the pitch, but I do not see too many who can do it. Potter and Viera certainly get their teams playing in the way I want Spurs to play, but would our current crop of players join in? To help, Paratici needs to offload the troublemakers and ne’er-do-wells. Sell them, loan them, pay off the contracts. I do not care, just get them out of my Club.

The football situation as Spuds is a living breathing reflection of the utter contempt Joe Lewis holds the supporters in. Accepting this contempt is a choice; Joe Lewis is successful in this enterprise because enough supporters accept it and are prepared to support it.
