Sky Sports reporter gives latest transfer update that ‘Spurs fans won’t want to hear’

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur may be done for the summer after the expected signing of Destiny Udogie according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Spurs are expected to bring in another new face in the coming days with Destiny, who will then be loaned back to Udinese.

There have been a barrage of reports over the past month suggesting Spurs could sign a creative midfielder to their team with the likes of Zaniolo, Maddison and Lucas Paqueta all linked with the North London club.

Bridge, on the other hand, has stated that he would not be surprised if Spurs were to be done with their transfer business after completing the proposed deal for Udogie. While discussing Spurs’ summer business on The Transfer Show podcast (via This is Futbol), he said:

“In terms of incoming, I think the message I’ve been told at the moment is outgoings is the key at the moment. Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, four senior players who have not been training with the first team now for a number of weeks.

“I think that’s obviously very demoralising for them, they’re senior players. So they need to get that sorted. And this is you know, potentially what Spurs fans won’t want to hear. Don’t be too shocked if they don’t, because I think Antonio Conte is pretty happy if the business they’ve done.”

If what Bridge suggests is true, Spurs will still have the £150 million transfer kitty provided by the owners and it may open up some opportunities for the January window, a market in which they excelled earlier this year.

There is certainly more to do.

But one of the game-changers you seek took the final corner kick yesterday, placed perfectly to where 4 Spurs’ heads were converging on it virtually unchallenged.

Granted, a temporary presence, but he certainly affected that match.

I personally think the big funds need to be spent on one more world class defender for now.

Perhaps assess the midfield needs again in January after the bedding in of the newbies.

Some of these views hold good water. I find myself impressed with all 3 of Chelsea’s signings. Solid intent, immediate effects.

Where does it say that? What you reading? I did watch the game, I have no idea why you tried to focus on a negative and not actually reply with a single thing to say about what I wrote, so next time, if you try reading the post you might find something half decent to reply back instead of “did I watch the game?” I’m a spurs fan and watch every game pal, have done for over 30 years so please don’t insult my intelligence with a piss poor reply like that please

Azza were you watching the game or what? Both substitution contributed on earning us a draw. So they made a difference. Especially allowing Spurs to change tactically and remain defensive.

It’s too early to start judging. Getting the players in that ain’t the final stage of a transfer. Getting them to blend and have the drive and want to win, that is another chapter. Rather than start passing grades and comments. Try and enjoy the battle. I thought our game wasn’t as great as Chelsea, but we battle for the draw and got it. Previously we could have given up and accept defeat.

Whilst not condoning Romero’s hairpulling, people are forgetting that prior to the corner being taken Cucerella had him in numerous bearhugs and it’s understandable he was p*ssed off.

The fight we showed in that game was probably the highlight of the match as well as the belated subs.

Agree with that mate, bentancur last week was absolute class but against Chelsea was given no time to settle from their press, bissouma hopefully comes in and starts big games as I feel he can have a much bigger impact that bentancur in those types of games, but bentancur, skipp, hojbjerg and bissouma competing for 2 spots is very good, all 4 of them are quality so it’s only a good thing going forward. Richarlison is exactly the type of player we needed in our squad, he plays with tenacity and does alot of pressing which I feel kane lacks at times just through a lack of pace compared to richarlison, but thats another good thing for us to see, at least we have a competent striker backing up or playing alongside kane at last. I’d like to see gil given a chance but no way does he get in that team with kulu, son and moura in front of him, but he is talented and I think it’d be a bad move to sell him on, maybe another loan but to a Premier league club instead of abroad so he sharpens up and can handle the physicality of EPL. He has a bags of potential so I hope spurs look after him and help him get to his maximum level. Spence I honestly think will storm the prem if he is given the chance to, I just don’t think he is fit enough currently but won’t be long before he is so one to keep an eye on….

Just hope they don’t leave Spence to rot.what I’ve seen so far he’s worth a go.

Agreed, Bentancur has been a great signing but he keeps going missing in the big games, Bissouma could find himself starting most games before long.

Richarlison is very useful and along with the tactical switch he unsettled Chelsea yesterday.

Perisic will carve out a role for himself and Lenglet who knows but that wasn’t a flawless game from Davies so there’s room for improvement in that position. Spence will struggle a bit, hopefully not to the point of being loaned out in Jan.

I hope Gil stays and has an impact but unlikely I guess.

The bench earned us a point yesterday, esp Charli coming on

It says they lost two forwards and two centre-backs

We snatched a draw today, started with the same team we had last season and still got a point, dont underestimate the new signings, they will bring alot more to the table than you think, Richarlison, Bissouma and Perisic are very good signings and can definetely add more to what we have, Lenglet if confident is a very good CB, Spence has great potential to become RWB and make that spot his own but probably isn’t as fit as he needs to be yet. Forster is good back up for Lloris too, Udogie is one for the future and can’t wait to see him next season in a lilywhite shirt so all good imo. Granted a couple high profile signings would be fantastic but I can live with what we have and not lose any sleep. This season is all about improvement on last season, if we make progress then no reason to complain, we are not far off winning something with this squad, just have a little faith in Conte and Paratici and let’s see how far this squad takes us under Antonio’s leadership. Remember, it’s a team game, big signings dont win trophies, smart signings do. COYS

Agreed. Where are the game-changers. World-class everything with Enic except the team and their investment in that.

Our transfer window has been massively overhyped. We’ve made a few essential additions to the squad but nothing that one would describe as a huge upgrade on what we have. Over a season the depth might help a bit though….

TBH we need to keep Udogie and loan out Royal or Sessegnon. Udigie is probably the best wing back we have and we are loaning him back. Always next season , next season blah blah blah. Chelsea had three new players in their starting first eleven and we had none. What does that say about their transfer window and ours?

If we keep Sanchez, Gil, Doherty and Skipp returns from injury relatively quick we’re probably covered for now tbh – a playmaker would be useful if they’re also a ‘Conte type’ but I’m not sure he’d play a compromise creative signing too much (like Eriksen might have ended up).

January after the World Cup could be an interesting window
