Sky Sports’ Paul Merson gives an assessment of Tottenham ahead of the matchup versus Wolves

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is hoping to put the loss to Southampton behind them when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday. The north London club doesn’t want to lose more ground in their fight for a top-four spot despite having a couple of matches in hand over West Ham United.

Ahead of the matchup against Wolves, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson wrote a column for Sportskeeda, stating that what he saw from Spurs on Wednesday worries him.

“That was a stinking result for Tottenham the other day. They had games in hand, and they could have been a shoo-in for the Premier League top four. Now, they’ve fallen behind,” Merson said.

“Tottenham’s performance worried me the other night – they got absolutely slaughtered. If they’d won that game, it would’ve just papered over the cracks.”

Spurs are fighting with West Ham, Arsenal, and Manchester United for fourth place and the final spot in the UEFA Champions League for next season. Tottenham needs to come away with all three points after their midweek defeat at the hands of The Saints.

Many will hope that the backline can rebound from their performance, considering the number of shots they conceded along with the game-tying and game-winning goal that came in five minutes late in the second half.

He hates Spurs, we know that, but he isn’t wrong in his current assessment.

Well… Paul Merson is a winker. That sums up my view on his (partisan) views.
