Skriniar ITK Confirmed As Conte Hopes For “important bid” In Coming Days

By The Boy -

JOSÉ MOURINHO AHEAD OF NEWCASTLE

Inter Milam boss Piero Ausilio is quoted by the Evening Standard as saying that since selling Diego Godin, he can’t imagine also conceding Milan Skriniar to the summer market too. However, what Ausilo actually said, didn’t stand up to scrutiny.

“There was a meeting with Tottenham, that is true, but we simply reiterated that Skriniar is not on the transfer market.

Evening Standard

Steve Hitchen drew a fair amount of flack after his All or Nothing appearance, but nobody flies out to Italy to buy from someone who isn’t selling.

As you will recall, yesterday we told you that the negotiations had cooled in recent days, after our man Steve Hitchen had delivered the bad news in person to Inter’s chiefs, that Tottenham couldn’t pay the €60million asking price for the 25-year-old. It is worth noting that Transfermarkt value the player at €45million, so it might be argued that Inter haven’t adjusted their prices to accommodate the pandemic’s impact.

Inter’s gaffer Antonio Conte provides a more honest commentary, adding, “But I don’t know if an important bid will arrive in the coming days… it’s possible that the club will consider it because of the financial situation”.

Don’t think he’s good enough, sort of a downgrade on Fazio but who plays in a worse league. Can’t see us signing him whilst Mou is in charge, given half a chance Levy would of course, it’s got his dna all over it. The wee fella does like signing cheap deadwood.

Yes, Conte’s admission is a far more honest commentary on the state of play with regards to Skriniar, than the Inter sporting director’s, who has merely parroted the “he’s not for sale” party line. The coded message from Conte is, he’s available ‘at the right price!’

Of course you never openly admit a player is for sale, as it devalues the sale value of the player and boosts the negotiating hand of the potential buyer. Nevertheless he is warming the bench, did not feature in the Europa semi-final or final last season and is clearly expendable under Conte’s preferred system.

He is badly needed by us as, with Toby’s visible decline, we now have two second tier quality CB’s in Toby and Davinson and a fourth tier calibre CB in Dier. Plus the very promising, but currently injured, Tanganga. Ben Davies is also a better CB than Dier, but Mourinho is apparently unaware (as yet) of Dier’s huge liability at the position.

Sanchez and Dier need baby sitting and Toby is getting on so we do need a CB. Whatever happened to the Beast from the East we supposed to be signing?

Get this one done. He’s quality. Better than everything we’ve got.

Nevermind the pandemic, £55m is too much without it. He can’t even get into Inter’s team. Inter can’t go scraping together bargains across Europe then expect to sell players not good enough for their First XI for that much. We do need a CB though, but we would then have 4, 5 with JT! Who goes, Sanchez?
