Sources close to the club: Tottenham’s talks for Skriniar cooled a few days ago

By The Boy -

The ongoing negotiations for Milan Skriniar have taken a turn for the worse as I am given to understand from a source close to the club that Inter Milan players’ agent at Stars & Friends is now offering the player to anyone that can come closer to the valuation than Spurs. That decision was made two days ago.

Obvious routes to resolving the situation include the agent accepting a lower fee, but according to Di Marzio, Steve Hitchen was made an offer in Italy for Skriniar, for €50million (€10million beneath the original asking price) but Hitchen was not authorized to go that high.

Will Spurs go back in with the full amount? It seems unlikely given the state of the club’s finances, unless something seismic such as the sale of Dele Alli and others can be pushed through in the forthcoming week.

SempreInter believe that Moussa Sissoko could aid in springing the deal, if Inter were to buy the Frenchman, who even Daniel Levy would struggle to ask more than €20million for.

The fact that the agent is now touting Skriniar about isn’t great news, but hardly surprising.

I have been lobbying for Dunk since about two or three years ago, in spite of the fact the boy’s a diehard Chelsea supporter. He has always impressed me as a sort of a John Terry lite, a real leader, with that ‘never-say-die’ type of attitude, who has had some great games against us. I heard Brighton were asking north of 40 mill for him though, so I don’t believe he would have been any cheaper.

I wouldn’t give up on this one just yet H. I think there is a genuine chance that Levy stumps up one more time for this transfer. I am sure he is aware that it was Woodward, turning down Mourinho’s request to buy Skriniar, that was the final straw in the relationship between the two of them at Utd.

It seems clear that Levy is genuinely trying to deliver what Mourinho wants and there is reason to believe that Skriniar is the one final major signing on the shopping list. I think the ‘back up’ striker could be more of a Levy loan/cannon fodder type deal! However, a top class CB is a much more important acquisition in my opinion.

So, much as I didn’t believe that either Reguilon or Bale would get done, now somewhat overcome by an unusual paroxysm of optimism (very rare for a Levy orchestrated transfer window!), I’ll stick my neck out and predict that this one gets pushed over the line, before Oct 5th!

Is the fact that before last summer our net spend was 17th in the league still lost on Levy? The club effectively saved a packet during Poch’s time whilst raking in Champions League money for four seasons on the bounce.

Despite all that we don’t have the ambition to finaly pay for a striker of the required quality to take the pressure off Kane? Kane will be sold next summer anyway, what’s Levy stressing about?

Give me strength! 😂

If we’re haggling over cost why didn’t we go in for Dunk.At least half the price and PL proven and a solid performer.
Brighton have some quality players now.

We’ve got Sonny and Bale, no matter how much the manager bangs on about tactics, Levy will just say;

“Well adapt your tactics to the squad you have, besides, Bale has number 9 has played up front for Madrid and you want me to get a striker?! That’ll put us within about 80m under Arsenal’s wage bill! I can’t have that, we might go into liquidation!” 😂

I can see Jose and Levy falling out over this kind of thing, the penny-pincher strikes again?!

Well, this guys the real deal so if they’ve opened up to other offers thats probably game over which is a shame…it may go to the wire but unlikely….we will leak goals with Dier at the back for sure……WE STILL NEED A STRIKER…….!

Have we got a striker yet? As for Kim wrong-un I don’t believe he’s an upgrade on what we currently have as he plays in a pretty poor league. Reminds me of Fazio – big and sluggish. Tanganga will be a better player. I think the only reason we’re interested in him is because Levy sees him as a playmate for Son and a big shirt seller in Asia tbh, oh and of course he’s cheap – where have we seen that profile before?

We aren’t getting a striker are we… we fans have “no comprehension” of how hard it is to sign one of course.

I thought the search was up when I saw Bale with the No9 shirt, Levy’s got two in one… 😂
