Sevilla are keen on signing Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 27-year-old left-back has struggled for regular game time at Tottenham and he needs to leave the club to play regularly. According to Fichajes, Sevilla are unimpressed with the performances of Valentin Barco, who is currently on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion. They are prepared to send the Argentine back to his parent club in January and they are looking at all alternatives.

Reguilon could be the ideal acquisition for them. He has played for Sevilla in the past and he knows the club well. He should be able to make an immediate impact if he joins the La Liga outfit. A return to familiar surroundings could be ideal for the defender as well.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and he is unlikely to get regular opportunities with them. His contract will expire in the summer of 2025 as well. He is likely to be available for a reasonable price in January and Sevilla would do well to secure his signature.

If they can help him regain his form and confidence, he could prove to be a bargain addition for them. Reguilon is still very much at the peak of his powers, and regular football in Spain could help him regain his form.

The move seems ideal for all parties. Tottenham will be keen to get rid of him in January as well. It will help them recoup some money from his departure. They will not want to lose the player on a free transfer next year.

The defender needs a fresh start at this stage of his career and a return to his homeland could not be better timed. It will be interesting to see if all parties can get the deal done.
