Tottenham may see further squad adjustments in the upcoming January transfer window, with left-back Sergio Reguilon once again attracting the attention of his former manager, Jose Mourinho.
According to a recent report from 90min, Mourinho is eyeing a move for the unwanted defender, looking to bring him to Turkish club Fenerbahce and offer him a fresh start.
Reguilon, who joined Spurs from Real Madrid in September 2020, initially made a positive impact with his energetic attacking runs and solid defensive contributions. However, injuries and a lack of consistent playing time have hindered his development at the club.
Under current manager Ange Postecoglou, Reguilon has struggled to find a place in the squad. He has made just one appearance on the bench this season, in Tottenham’s League Cup victory over Coventry City, where he remained an unused substitute.
Despite staying with the team through the summer transfer window, his role in the squad has been minimal, and he now looks set for an exit.
Mourinho, who originally signed Reguilon during his tenure as Spurs manager, appears eager to bring the 27-year-old defender to Fenerbahce in January.
This potential move could provide the Spaniard with the chance to reignite his career after a frustrating spell in North London.
This is not the first time he has been linked with a reunion with Mourino. During the summer window, it was reported that the Portuguese manager was interested in a late swoop. However, a deal did not materialise.
Despite making a rare substitute appearance against Coventry City last month, he does not have a future at the club. With his contract running expiring in the summer, Spurs will be looking to offload the player for a reduced fee in the upcoming January transfer window in order to avoid losing him on a free next summer.
