Tottenham Hotspur is pursuing Atalanta BC defender Cristian Romero, and it seems as though the 23-year-old defender wants to push the transfer over the finish line.
According to 90min, Romero urges the Serie A club to agree to a transfer that would allow him to join Tottenham and have his first taste of Premier League football. The report further details that Romero wants this transfer done as soon as possible.
Recently, a report from Calciomercatonews revealed that the Argentine defender has an agreement with the player’s entourage on a salary. However, Tottenham and Atalanta have yet to agree on a transfer sum for the player.
Following his arrival from Juventus, Romero has turned himself into one of the better defenders in Italy and played a significant role in Argentina winning the Copa America this summer.
Now Romero is ready for his move to the Premier League after what has been a successful summer for Romero.
I’ve got that deja-vous feeling over this pursuit. Levy is going to do his usual penny pinching trick, pull out and sign somebody cheap and nowhere near as good again. The team will finish mid table or worse and Nuno will get the sack. Why oh why can’t Levy see what a fool he is? The rest of football can.
THIS
Although I remain sceptical that this will happen, it could be that we need to secure an additional outgoing before closing this deal. I think Kounde to Chelsea could be good news for us as he was never coming to us anyway, and Seville were interested in Sanchez, so if that all happens we might start seeing some movement.
Call me a doom-monger, call me psychic, call me Mr Tibbs but Romero won’t be coming to Spurs. Let’s all meet back here when this deal falls through and I’ll buy you all some scampi fries and a pint and we can moan about Levy
I’ll be happy if we buy Cristian Romero, Nikola Milenkovic and Takehiro Tomiyasu. Defence sorted, which as we know was our achilies heel last season.
Add a striker and get rid of Aurier, Dier, Sanchez, Winks, Sissoko & Carlton Vickers.
