Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon appears to be nearing the end of his stint at the club.

According to the latest from CaughtOffside, the Spanish defender is aiming to terminate his contract in the upcoming January transfer window.

Reguilon, now in the final year of his Tottenham contract, has been sidelined from Ange Postecoglou’s squad plans. This season, he has not been part of any match day selections for the Premier League or Europa League despite being fit and available.

The only time he made it to the bench was for the Carabao Cup third-round match against Coventry City, where he remained unused.

The 27-year-old is reportedly eager for a fresh challenge that would allow him to secure regular playing time and regain his best form.

Reports suggest that Reguilon hopes to exit Spurs in January to find opportunities offering more consistent minutes.

Over the summer, Tottenham explored potential transfer deals for him, but despite interest, no agreements were finalized, leaving him in North London.

Now, La Liga clubs such as Sevilla, where Reguilon had a successful loan spell, and Getafe are said to be keen on bringing him back, potentially on a free transfer. The report claims that both clubs are prepared are ready to start negotiations with Tottenham and Reguilon’s representatives.

Sergio Reguilon: Time at Tottenham

The defender joined Tottenham in September 2020 on a five-year contract worth approximately £27.5 million. He made an impactful debut in a League Cup match against Chelsea, providing a crucial assist, and featured prominently in his Premier League debut in a 6-1 victory over Manchester United.

However, despite his impressive debut season, his time at Spurs has been marred by inconsistent performances and recurring fitness problems. Loan stints at Atlético Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford offered opportunities but failed to reignite his standing at Tottenham.

Having accumulated 67 appearances, two goals, and eight assists for Spurs, Reguilon’s time at the club has been mixed.

A January move may provide the reset he needs to revive his career and find consistent playing time.
