See how the Leeds’ game highlighted one discipline, Conte desperately needs to focus upon

By The Boy -

The story of this game was one of more or less two halves, with the second being dominated by the sheer will of one man driving his players on, with the sort of belief that many of us had abandoned.

One aspect that needs to be highlighted, however, is our continued inability to cross a ball. Reggie’s one successful ball out of 6 attempts is actually par for the course. When Emerson’s 2 from 5 is viewed as a highpoint, then we know we’re in trouble.

Indeed both their crossing can improve. But both have the ability, they fire it in the right areas at times, both have pulled off an assist and decent crosses… Half the problem has been Kane and other attackers not busting a gut to meet the ball. Not attacking the crosses, getting beat to the ball by defenders… Kane isn’t the best at heading, over 50 corners and 70 odd set pieces and no headed goals by Kane.. I remember Lucas scoring a header from open play but that’s all. Romeros disallowed headed goal.. This is telling.. Vlahovic is a great header of the ball.

When Walker was Emersons age we were sending him out to Villa on loan.. Emerson will be fine. He is 22 and is still learning. He will make mistakes but he’s only going to get better. He’s second choice for Brazil right back now, Danilo from Juve is first choice and is 30..

Dier isn’t an out and out CB, pushing him into midfield and see if PEH can do a dembele might be worth a try.

Following on from what Lilywhite said earlier
it is almost like our players forgot how to play football since Citeh at home.
On a positive note…..ever since WHam at home we have looked nervous holding a lead but I didnt feel that yesterday.
If Leeds had got a 2nd I still wouldnt have had that sinking feeling of when you expect it to happen.

All good onwards & upwards

Typical Levy, buy cheap have to buy twice. Spend a fortune on pointless gimmicks for the stadium and peanuts on the players. We’ve got a car booter for a chairman.

I’d be interested in seeing Dier’s stats, I thought he had a good game yesterday albeit against a toothless attack. In Emerson we have another full-back who can’t cross his legs. He was dreadful for the Leeds goal. The standard now for top 4 full-backs is Trent/Roberston, Cancelo/Walker, Chilwell/James. Our boys are nowhere near that level.

We have a fairly good run of games coming up,during which Conte should be able to get more of his ideas across.Hopefully a good few points gathered too.

We got lucky in the 2nd half as Leeds started to get tired…they miss their better players and were not good enough in the final third (16-18 shots I think)……we started to press and made the most of it…our passing is shocking, we really need a midfield baller to get the ball out wide and allow them to move forward faster…so many of our players have their backs to the goal…
