Scouting for Spurs: Callum Wilson [This is not the droid we are looking for] video

By The Boy -

That’s a somewhat stinging headline, but in these most testing of times, it makes no sense at all to ship in players that are simply ‘okay’.

Looking at Wilson’s stats, there simply aren’t enough goals amongst them and that’s what we would be paying him for. Spurs already have a plethora of attacking players pitching in. A back up to Harry Kane MUST be lethal in front of goal.

This highlight reel and the stats tells us that Wilson has scored ‘some goals’ for a relegated club, and nothing more. In some parts of the back pages, Wilson is now apparently keen to drop from £100,000 a week to £70,000 for the right club. Wow, how terribly noble of him.

Perhaps there’s an argument for Callum being able to score more if he were in a better side? In which case, let’s cut to the chase and see if Colchester United will sell us Callum Harriott.

I think you’re underestimating the pull of TOTTENHAM LONDON

Pepe is very similar to Moura.Runs up a lot of blind alleys, but is capable of scoring good goals, but not on at a consistently high level.
Also to my mind Sonny doesn’t look particularly happy at present, his form has dipped. It could be Mourinho’s tactics.
Wilson could be a good addition as he knows the PL and would provide a different threat to Kane.15M is not that much and as others have pointed out we are not capable of attracting top strikers.
Our problem will come when we have to replace Kane.

As derided Llorente was by some of our fans, he was fairly prolific wherever he went and scored a lot for Swansea before he came to us. He’s a player who has played for some and scored regularly for some massive clubs, was an international.

With all that behind him he wasn’t as prolific as Kane for the simple reason that at that level there are only a handful of players in the world that are. What he did do was bring experience and a different dynamic, I thought Fernando was about the best we were going to get in that regard.

He wasn’t a ‘like for like’ player but do we really need that and secondly, does one even exist? Hence the logic that Sonny or Moura could do the job, certainly under Poch Sonny filled in well but Maureen likes a target man so he might want a different option.

Good luck to him, a journeyman like Lorente is the best we can hope for. Levy won’t stretch beyond that, even that might be ‘Too Dear’.

‘Austerity FC’ is here to stay, for another two decades…

True, it’s just the everlasting absence of a creative midfielder and shaky Defence that is severely lacking!!!

With one leg tied behind my ear and the other behind my elbow, I’d score more

Our first choice front 3 isn’t that bad; Kane, Son and Moura (or Bergwijn).

To be fair there are some decent goals on the highlights reel and he seems surprisingly good in the air which would work well at Spurs with all those quality crosses we put into the box 😂; there were a lot of penalties though. Harry loves a stat so here are a few; Wilson minutes per goal 234, Deeney 273, Schick 199 (but he has only scored 26 goals across 4 seasons at Lazio and Leipzig). Just to complete the analysis, if we look at Spurs, Kane”s minutes to goal ratio is 119 whilst Sonny”s is 188. I’m sure Wilson would do a job at Spurs and at 10-15 million is a fairly low risk investment in the current market but is this the sort of signing to close the gap on Liverpool, City, Utd etc.

Ok no world beater but lets be honest that CW is not the worst striker in the world. From what I have seen he holds the ball up well, brings others into play, score goals and earned an England call up.

MS the upgraded Benzemaas of this world you are alluding to simply won’t join Spurs. In the past once we struck lucky in buying the sensational imperious Jurgen Klinsmann, Those days are over.

Liverpool can present a fluid forward line of Saleh – Mane and Firmino.
Our archest rivals present Aubameyeung – Lacasette and Pepe.
Sadly we can only dream!!

Beggars can’t be choosers. Having shipped Troy Parrott out on loan to Milwall, with the clock ticking whats the alternative? There ain’t none. CW, Troy Deeney or some foreign player we have never heard off. Lets stop being delusional and live in the real world of where we are plus financial constraints!

“it makes no sense to ship in players that are simply okay” could also easily refer to Hjojberg if what I have seen of him and what the Saints fans are saying has any merit. The same applies to Wilson. When you add to a squad or are replacing a specific player for whatever reason, if you are an ambitious club with forward momentum, you should always be looking to upgrade with new reinforcements. This is what proper clubs withy aspirations of winning someone tend to do. Spurs, of course, under the inspirational leadership of our much beloved chairman, do things differently, hence our empty trophy cabinet. Patrik Schick anyone?
