Sam Allardyce says Daniel Levy won’t hire manager who wants the Tottenham job

By Saikat -

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp was linked with a return to the North London club in recent weeks.

Spurs are still looking to bring in a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte. They have put former midfielder Ryan Mason in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Recently, Harry Redknapp revealed in an interview that he would be open to taking over at his former club. However, former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce believes that Daniel Levy is unlikely to appoint the experienced manager.

Sam Allardyce has explained that Redknapp is a controlling manager who likes to get involved, and he could try and influence the decision-making at the club. Whereas Daniel Levy prefers a head coach, who will focus on managing matters on the pitch.

He added that Levy did not even consider Redknapp for an interim role. The experienced manager knows the club well and he could have done an impressive job until the end of the season.

“I think with the way Daniel got rid of Harry before when he got to the Champions League before anyone else. Harry is too much of a manager rather than a head coach, and that’s Daniel’s problem, he knows his players, he does as much research as anyone and he’s too much of a manager for Daniel. He didn’t even consider him to be an interim,” Allardyce said on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.

Tottenham have been linked with several managers in recent weeks, including the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.

It remains to be seen whether they can bring in the right candidate at the end of the season.

Currently, the North London outfit are fighting for a place in the Champions League and it remains to be seen whether Ryan Mason can guide them to a strong finish.

Tottenham battled out an impressive draw against Manchester United in the Premier League last night. The comeback against the Red Devils will have given them some much-needed confidence boost and Spurs will fancy their chances of finishing in the top four.
