Paul Robinson has tipped Harry Kane to return to top form for Tottenham after the international break.
Despite winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot last season, Kane is yet to open his goal-scoring account in the competition this season.
He had wanted to leave the club in the summer but failed in his attempts to depart north London.
Robinson says his failure to earn a move away has affected him, especially as it is being constantly discussed on the internet and in the media.
However, the former Tottenham number one believes the noise about his future is dying down and that could help him return to form.
Kane got into some fine goal-scoring positions in his last game against Aston Villa and it looks just a matter of time before he gets his scoring boots on again.
Robinson now expects the England captain to score for his country and to take that form back to the Premier League and start scoring in the competition again.
He told Football Insider: “There was a couple of chances against Villa that you would have expected to him to take. He’s been out of form this season, there’s no two ways about it.
“Things are starting to settle down a bit now though which should help. Everyone is fed up of talking about him and his future. As he is settling down his performances are improving.
“He has not been at his best since before the Euros. There are signs of improvement but there is definitely a lot more to come from him.
“The international break will help him. I think he’ll get a few goals under his belt for England and then return to Spurs at his best.”
Kane’s return to form is likely to positively impact Tottenham’s results for the rest of the season.
I see Robinson has been on the energy drinks again and is still spouting his usual twaddle.
