Respected journalist reckons Tottenham is expected to return for major target in January

By Bruce Grove -

Fabrizio Romano claims on his Here We Go podcast that Inter Milan expects Tottenham to make a return for Milan Skriniar in the January transfer window.

The Lilywhites wanted to sign him all summer, but they failed in their bid to land him.

The clubs couldn’t agree on a fee for his transfer even though the defender was willing to make the move.

Spurs have since turned their attention towards securing Joe Rodon from Swansea City, but Romano believes that they have unfinished business with Inter Milan.

Romano said on the podcast as quoted by HITC: “Inter expect Tottenham to come back for Milan Skriniar, but his €60m [£55m] value is non-negotiable according to Inter Milan.”

Inter made it clear that they will only sell him for 60m euros, but Spurs were unwilling to offer more than 40m euros for his signature.

They have tabled around £10m for Rodon. Although that offer has been turned down, they are expected to return with a better offer for the Welshman before the transfer deadline on Friday.

Skriniar has been a long-term target for Jose Mourinho and the Special One will hope that Spurs will help him land another player that he has always wanted to sign.

Lets hope so, but this of course all depends on the finances. We need to get rid of some players to get them off the wage bill, Levy will have to reduce prices to be realistic. Personally I think we should leave the CB position until January then go all out for Skriniar, we know he’s world class and will improve us, Rodon is an unknown quantity and a risk.
