Report: Villarreal to begin talks with Tottenham over keeping loanee on a permanent deal

By Eddie Razo -

This past January, Giovani Lo Celso departed Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal with Villarreal. Since joining The Yellow Submarine, the Argentine midfielder has found that consistency that he lacked with Spurs since La Liga is a league he’s excelled at during his time with Real Betis.

Lo Celso has played a significant role in Villarreal reaching the UEFA Champions League semifinals. After their run has come to an end following their elimination at the hand of Liverpool, they’re ready to keep him long-term.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the Spanish club intends to begin negotiations with the north London club now that the Champions League run is over and preparations for next season will start.

Villarreal has an option to buy the 26-year-old, but when the deal was announced, there was no information what’s the figure the La Liga side will need to pay, but it seems as though they might have first dibs on agreeing to a deal for him.

Transfermarkt puts Lo Celso’s transfer value at £20-million.

Levy will not let a guy who has been a key player in getting a team to a Ch Lg semi go for £20m. If he wasn’t ours we’d be looking to pay £40m so if we can wipe our faces all is good.

Villareal’s record signing is Danjuma at £21m, so I doubt Lo Celso will go there.

Once Liverpool recovered from a terrible first half, they overran the Spaniards. LoNoShow was his usual self. He’s not strong or pace, a combination of which make it difficult to succeed in the Prem. Get rid.

Levy doesn’t do hits mid contract so we could have another Eriksen on our hands, along with a few others.

The little I have seen of him with Villareal in the Ropey league shows there is a good player in there. He looked up for it in both legs against Liverpool and it could just be he didn’t fancy us for whatever reason,or wasn’t fancied by any of his managers here.He certainly looks suited to the Spanish league.Again due diligence appears sadly lacking.

It’s about choosing the right type of player that suits the PL and the club, something we have an appallingly bad record of when it comes to signings.

We can at least take a hit on him it is the other specimen that worries me.
Let’s see if we can get over £20m for NDonkey

Transfer value now rated at just £20m, how much did we pay for him? Says it all really. Another Spurs player who couldn’t hack the PL but looks okay abroad in slower leagues.
