Spurs have been targeting some of the best youngsters in England for some time now and the Lilywhites are close to sealing a deal for one, possibly as soon as this weekend.
Liverpool Echo reports that Spurs are set to complete the move for Wigan Athletic teenager, Alfie Devine, either today or tomorrow.
The midfielder is just 15, but he has already turned heads for his performances in the Wigan youth side and the England youth national teams.
He was on the books of Liverpool from the age of 7 until he was 11 when the Reds released him.
He joined the Latics four months later, and he has developed well to become of the brightest young prospects in the country.
Spurs are among several teams who have been monitoring his progress and the Lilywhites look set to beat his other suitors to his signature, so claims the Echo.
Although he is just 15, he has played for the Wigan Under23 side and his performances for them have been impressive.
Devine would hardly be useful to Jose Mourinho’s team when he joins, but he can develop his game further in the club’s youth system and be sure to get his chance when he has developed enough.
Wigan is likely to sell him sooner rather than later as they are on the brink of being taken over by new owners following their fall into administration.
It will be interesting to see if the Liverpool Echo is accurate and the teenager does indeed sign for us this weekend.

Seems to be a new direction for Spurs, trying to follow Chelsea in hoovering up young talent. I suppose it will pay off if just one in twenty hits the jackpot. Story online we offered £1 million for Jude Bellingham who just signed for Borussia Dortmund for £23 million.
Good work. Bring in the prospects from young
