Report: Tottenham target not keen on leaving Barcelona this summer

By Eddie Razo -

FC Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has seen his role with the Spanish club reduce with the arrival of Xavi as manager. As a result, his name has come up regarding possible departures, and his name has been connected with Tottenham Hotspur.

The north London club wants to bring in another forward to help lessen the load on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Also, Depay does have experience in the Premier League, albeit an unsuccessful stint with Manchester United.

However, Sport reports that Depay wants to remain with Barcelona despite playing a secondary role with the team. The La Liga side would like to sell the Netherlands international to help fund some of their summer plans to improve their squad.

After a recent performance against Mallorca, the 28-year-old played all 90 minutes scoring a goal in the 2-1 win. Depay is making it known that his desire to stay, but if Barcelona can get a fee that piques their interest, they could part ways with Depay.

“I came here looking forward to playing for the team. I want to be important in the team next year and for several years more,” the forward said after the win over Mallorca.

Depay, in his first season of a two-year deal with Barcelona, has made 34 appearances scoring 12 goals and two assists.
