Report: Tottenham prepared to spend big in an attempt to land Inter Milan star forward

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is looking to improve their attack this summer, and while several names are floating to help fill this need, it seems as though they’re ready to go for a big fish out in the transfer market.

According to Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the north London club is ready to spend €90-million to land Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. The Serie A club is working on closing deals for Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku, so they could be open to letting the Argentine exit.

However, through his agent, Martinez has stated his desire to remain with the Italian giants. Still, it appears that won’t stop Spurs from attempting to reunite Martinez with his former manager.

This past season the 24-year-old made 49 appearances scoring 25 goals and recording four assists for Inter Milan, which won the Coppa Italia in 2021-22.

Inter Milan will have the ball in their court to see whether or not they want to accept the reported sum that Tottenham is ready to pay to bring the striker to north London this summer.

Hard evidence and credible analysis really shatters everything most of these stories are based on…

I never said we wouldn’t make top 4, I doubted it at one point like most rational fans would have. I didn’t say that there was no chance Conte would still be there next season, I said it was not nailed on (however, beyond this season is a complete unknown). I’m not sure he’s been ‘backed’ in the long to medium term, sure Perisic at 33 let’s do a job for a season but I just don’t see Levy/Conte as a long term or ongoing thing. I stand by that.

Martinez does not fit in with anything when you look at the current team. Sonny, Kane, Kulusevski are doing a good enough job in Conte’s system to make a €90m deal for a fourth option of that three highly unlikely.

It’s just my opinion (which people are free to express by the way) and there is no need to pipe down when the media just spurt out anything and some people buy into it. I’d be more than happy for this to be true, but let’s face it, it ain’t likely is it? For grown ups I mean…

Exactly. It doesn’t work. 3 DMs and 2 wing backs and those two are redundant. Makes no sence. If we are looking for a backup striker, Richarlison makes more sense, as he’s more versatile. Not saying he’s the answer, but he’d have more options for game time, and could deputise for any of the front three. With Sonny and Dejan either side of him, he would be a more than capible option at centre forward should Harry pick up an injury.

What happens to Son and Kulu if the most used formation going forward is to be 3-5-2?

Easty you were telling me that we had no chance of top four. You told me Conte would walk before the seasons out. You told me there’s no chance Conte would still be here next season. You said he wouldn’t be backed. It must be terrible to be wrong all the time.. How about cheer on your team for a change? You remind me of Southgate, a negative Sourpuss.

Not coming, and over-rated anyway. Last I watched Martinez was in a cup final Argentina v. Brazil a few months back (LoCelso also played in that match). He looked lazy and uninterested, and was definitely the least hard-working member of that Argentina squad. It was truly bizarre for a cup final vs his country’s biggest rival. Unless he was carrying a knock, or playing with covid, it makes no sense. At 40-50M perhaps..,but at >80M no way.

You’re right, it’s so he can shift formation.. He’s played 343 so far with us… But his most successful and favourite formation is 352.. He played 352 at Inter and played Martinez up top with Lukaku.

Yep. A player of his pedigree and price tag isn’t coming here to come of the bench and start cup matches. Which means shifting formation to two up front. Either that, or Kane’s out the door.
If this gossip were to hypothetically to have any legs (and I doubt it does) the likely scenario is that Kane is on his bike, otherwise Levy would never pay that sort of cabbage. This is a load of guff.

I can only see us really going for Martinez if we know Kane is likely to be leaving. Richarlison is probably a better buy if Kane is staying (and if we are only buying one forward) because Richarlison can rotate with any of the top 3

Levy spending 90M on one player?I don’t think so,although I would happily be proved wrong.

This is very good news Lauraro Martinez is a fantastic striker, much better than the Brazilian Richarlison, who is over priced, and a disruption in the dressing room.
