Report: Tottenham looking at Barcelona’s Memphis Depay to bolster attack for next season

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur brought in Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus to help with the attack during the January window. The north London club wants to lessen the reliability of their offense solely on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The 21-year-old has impressed, but Spurs don’t want to stop there. According to Spanish football journalist Gerard Romero (via BarcaUniversal), Tottenham has already made an offer to Memphis Depay.

Depay signed a two-year contract last summer, joining the Spanish club. However, since the arrival of Xavi as the manager, Memphis has remarkably dropped down the pecking order.

Ferran Torres has overtaken the 28-year-old’s place on the wing; meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has become the go-to striker for Xavi since his arrival. Barcelona could be looking to offload with one year left on his deal after this season.

Memphis has experience in the Premier League, but his passage through Manchester United didn’t go as planned, and perhaps he might be open to redeeming himself.

Like many who have talent the issue is wether to focus on that talent and make yourself exceptional or spread yourself too thin aiming to achieve over many opportunities that are presented to you , but slowly failing and your core skill…though social media may well maintain a profile how much substance is there to that really..
Three coaches have now complained about his attitude.

I don’t think he has a flashy lifestyle, if anything the guy looks to have a lot of character, after all he came back from being a big money united flop.

NDembele ..basically a purchase based on the notion that the Barca shirt will rub off on the dim witted ..a massive wage for a bundle of attitude problems …Hope it never happens.

I cant see this happening… if Conte is still there they will clash & crucially I suspect we’ll need to sell before we buy…. whose going to pay Levys valuation of Tanguy & pay him 10 mill a year??

Reports of a flashy lifestyle, comments about ‘need for personal development’ from Ronald Koeman, commitments (HipHop) outside of football… this has all the marks of a Tottenham signing that is going to have ‘temperament’ problems (Dele Alli anyone?).

But, if he’s a bargain… I guess that’ll all get overlooked right? Because, we’d rather not pay top-price and have a ready to go serial over-succeeder on our hands.

God no. He’s a typical Levy signing so likely it will happen.
