Tottenham are now interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres when the January transfer window opens.
According to Bild, Spurs are keen on improving their attacking options next month, and the opportunity to sign Torres could arise.
Barcelona’s financial stresses are well-known, and it will not be a surprise to see players who have very recently been signed also become involved in the outgoings in the January transfer winter window.
One such player who is linked with a January exit is former City striker Ferran Torres.
He only signed for Barcelona last January for £55 million but the report suggests that he could be let go next month as the Spanish club looks to balance their books.
His contract at Barcelona expires in 2027 and It is yet to be disclosed how much Barcelona will be asking for the Spanish striker. However, Spurs will reportedly face competition from the likes of AC Milan and Arsenal who are all said to be interested in him.
Xavi has previously stated that the Spaniard’s quality has left him surprised, and hailed him as “world-class.”
He said:
“Perhaps Ferran has surprised me the most. He’s a player on another level.
“He’s spectacular: how he understands the space, links play, doesn’t lose the ball, his defensive work… he’s world-class.
“He’s a great signing, one I wanted, and a wonderful footballer.”
Since joining from Manchester City in January, the 22-year-old has struggled. He has only scored six goals and provided four assists in 31 La Liga appearances. And the Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order at the club after the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha in the summer.
