Tottenham is in preliminary talks to sign Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, according to a report from Football Insider.
Apparently Jose Mourinho is very keen on the young Englishman and has even been in contact with Gray.
Now, if that is true then it is very significant and that is not all, Football Insider also reckons that Spurs have been given encouragement by the Foxes in regards to the 24-year-old.
Gray himself is also said to be interested in a move to North London, mainly because he has been unable to convince his manager Brendan Rodgers, to play him on a regular basis.
So, on the face of it, this does look a deal that could happen but there are questions to be asked.
For starters, if Gray is disgruntled because of lack of playing time what makes him think it would be any different at Tottenham, there is considerable competition for his position.
Another reason why this one looks a bit strange is that signing a winger is hardly a necessity, not in comparison to a right-back, defensive midfielder and second striker.
That said, one has to admit that the signs are there that this transfer could actually happen.
Agree, if it hasn’t happened at Leicester under different Managers then not sure he’s as good as the early hype.
Didn’t rate him enough last time linked, as mentioned, there’s other areas to spend what money there is available.
He’ll get plenty of games when Harry’s injured and he’s English.
I do remember JM talking to him after we played them and thinking “whats that all about”
we dont need any more players in that area. Maybe it is just little chats to see what we can do but surely one has to go if that is the case.
Bang him up
Maguire found guilty…he needs to be binned from England or that sets a bad example!!
Yes, but can he play as a striker..
Levy/Poch were interested before ,now it’s Levy/Jose does this not have a Levy English sell on deal all over it.
I’ve always liked D gray. (A lot) would love him at Tottenham. Got a cracking free kick on him and can get past a man. José could tune him up.
His move to Leicester was supposed to be the making of him. It hasn’t happened. He has barely stepped up. No thanks. SpursGoliath puts it perfectly when he says we already have enough 7 out of 10 players.
Why are we getting stupid reports that we’re interested in wingers when we need fullbacks, central defenders and a striker, can you see Levy forking out millions that he doesn’t need to.
We have a few too many 7 out of 10 players on the books, esp in attacking midfield.
A good chance Gray would be another one I feel, though I’d like to be proven wrong…
