Report: Tottenham Hotspur expressing interest in Fulham midfielder whose contract expires next year

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur made an addition to their midfield this past summer when they added Pape Matar Sarr. The teenager remained on loan for another season at FC Metz, but the north London-based club has its eyes on another midfielder as they improve the position.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham is expressing interest in signing Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho. The 19-year-old is garnering attention from his play in the Championship.

Carvalho has scored four goals in 13 appearances with Fulham. Nonetheless, his contract expires in 2022, and a recent report from The Athletic indicates that the teenager doesn’t plan on remaining in West London.

Come January, Carvalho can sign a pre-contract with any club of his choosing. Tottenham Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici wants to add some youth into their starting eleven, and the Fulham midfielder could be the target.

Manager Antonio Conte wants to spend a significant amount of money on improving the squad. Adding a young talent like Carvalho is the first step in turning the team into a vision Paratici and Conte have for Spurs.

Another waste of space and wages. Levy is like a rescue centre of players nobody else wants.

I’m not sure we’ll be improving the squad by bringing in kiddywink punts like Sarr and this guy. When is Levy going to get serious?

Weren’t people on the comments urging the club to bring Sarr in early because they’d seen him to some stepovers on YouTube? That’d turn our season around for sure…

Sarr is “an addition to Tottenham’s midfield”, but starting when? Not before 2023, I reckon. Carvalho played 13 Championship games, which is nice, but is he someone we can rely on consistently?

Not against signing youth, but it’s not a priority now. Conte needs at least SOME ready-to-go players. A genuinely solid creative midfielder is a must, since it doesn’t seem Tanguy and Gio are going to pick up the slack anytime soon.

What are they going to do, buy him and then let him rot in the ‘reserves’? Devine, Rodin, Clarke etc etc etc!
