Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly expressed their interest in acquiring Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, according to the latest report by the Daily Mail.
The player himself reportedly wants to leave the Cottagers after having failed to come to an agreement over a new deal.
However, earlier this January, Fulham exercised an automatic contract extension to ensure Adarabioyo’s stay until 2024, preventing him from leaving on a free transfer this summer.
But as per the report, Tottenham have registered their interest in the former Manchester City man.
This development comes amidst news that Davinson Sanchez is pushing for a summer departure, and Tottenham confirming the return of Clement Lenglet to Barcelona.
As a result, Spurs find themselves in need of several defenders, with Adarabioyo potentially being one of their targets.
According to Sky Sports, Spurs have been ‘monitoring’ the situation surrounding the player’s contract as well as his performances for Fulham.
They are also expected to sign atleast another defender with the likes of Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi also linked with a summer move.
The signing of Adarabioyo would also benefit Tottenham in terms of fulfilling the homegrown player quota.
Even if a transfer fails to materialise this summer, Spurs will still have the chance to sign him next summer as he would be available on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old joined Fulham from Manchester City in 2020 after a couple of loan spells with West Brom and Blackburn.
He current market value is €15m as per Transfermarkt, but he could be available on a reduced price due to his contract situation.
Whether Spurs are successful in securing his services this season or not remains to be seen.
