Report: Tottenham could use loanee to land Villarreal star defender this summer

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur has been linked to Villarreal defender Pau Torres for nearly a year. Last summer, the north London club reportedly pushed for the Spanish defender but failed as Torres remained with The Yellow Submarine to play UEFA Champions League football.

However, this time around, it seems Spurs are making another push for the 25-year-old, but they could be using a trade chip this time around. According to Sky Italy (via Spurs Web), Tottenham is working to sign Torres, with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso being part of a deal.

Lo Celso spent these last few months on loan with the Spanish club and impressed them during their Champions League knockout stages run, where they reached the competition’s semifinals.

As a result, Villarreal would like to keep the Argentine permanently so that’s a deal for Torres could involve Lo Celso in some matter to lower that transfer fee that the north London club might have to pay for Torres.

I watched Germany v England & was impressed by the Germany defenders who were properly playing out from the back with intelligence, movement and skill that you don't always see, even in attacking midfielders. Anyway, it reminded me of what don't realky have in our Spurs locker. If this one has that sort of vision and skill on the ball, can turn defence into attack without just belting it forward -like, actually construct something, I'm all in for signing him.

Regrettably, optus sport has lost european football so I don't get to see many of these players anymore.

So Germany didn't win but this looks like a team that is on the up. Sorry, Englanders.

As he is very much a left-footer, i’d guess this lad is back-up if the Bastoni deal doesn’t get going.
