Report: Tottenham considering bid to host the Super Bowl in 2026

By Eddie Razo -

This weekend is Super Bowl LVI weekend for the NFL, where the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals. The biggest sporting event in the United States could be crossing the Atlantic; at least Tottenham Hotspur hopes that it’s the case.

According to the Daily Mail, the north London club is lining up a historic bid to stage the Super Bowl. Spurs want to be the first overseas venue to host the sporting event and are considering bringing American football’s biggest game to London in 2026.

Tottenham already has a 10-year contract with the NFL worth £40million to host two regular-season games at their stadium each season. The venues for the next four Super Bowls are already known, so the Premier League club hopes to be in line after these next four games are played.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced this week that Germany would begin staging one game per season this year as the league continues to grow its international presence.

Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena will be the venue for the first match before rotating with Frankfurt until 2025. Mexico will also host a game this year. Nonetheless, perhaps hosting the Super Bowl in London could be another way to accelerate the process.

Would be unusual for the NFL to give up the jewel in the crown, probably the most watched sports event in the US. Time difference might be a problem as well.
