The backline is a position that Tottenham Hotspur wants to strengthen this summer, and there are countless central defenders linked to the north London club. The latest name to surface is Dynamo Kyiv’s Ilya Zabarnyi.
According to Football.London, Spurs have been closely watching the highly-rated Ukraninan defender and are mulling up a summer move for the 19-year-old.
However, a transfer won’t come cheap, considering Zabarnyi is under contract until 2026. Furthermore, with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it remains unclear what will come of Ukrainian clubs next season and whether they will be a league to play.
As a result, perhaps a deal could be had for the teenager. When it comes to a possible fee, Transfermarkt puts Zabarnyi’s value at £14-million. Before the season was terminated, the defender made 23 appearances netting one assist.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs go with a player with high upside to fill the void or pay more for a more proven player.
We haven’t had a statement signing since Jurgen. Many near misses under ENIC though which many think is the same thing.
Bar the Brighton chap, they are all punts. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we spunk our money there. The Brighton guy we could do with we definitely won’t pay for.
BUY not Bug lol…we might bug them all .
So….just opened The Boy Hotspur and according to the 4 headlines we are after…
A Brighton defender 45 million
A Middlesbrough defender 20 million
A Lyon midfielder 32 million and last but not least some dude from Dynamo Kyiv for 14 million. That’s 111 million. I would eat my spurs baseball cap if we even bug ONE of this lot.
That would be typical Levy to get a player on the cheap by exploiting the situation in Ukraine.
There has to be some sort of game we can make of all this. Like “transfer speculation bingo” or something. Or like a guess the jelly beans in the jar game where we have a guess at how many players we are linked to – that specifically make an article here – between opening/closing day of transfer window.
I’ll open the bidding at 122.
