Report: Tottenham among the Premier League clubs eyeing Brighton’s £45M defender

By Eddie Razo -

Despite already adding Ivan Perišić last week to help improve their left wing-back position, Tottenham Hotspur wants to add depth, considering the Croatia international is 33-years-old and Spurs might eye a younger player to challenge for the role.

According to Goal, the north London club is one of three Premier League clubs interested in Brighton & Hove Albion left-back Marc Cucurella. The 23-year-old had an impressive 2021-22 season, so top clubs are targeting the defender.

Joining Spurs are Chelsea and Manchester City, who are also circling the Spain international to help improve their backline this summer.

Regarding Tottenham, Goal states that their interest in Cucurella is due to manager Antonio Conte admiring glances in his direction due to his ability to slot in at left-back and center-half.

When it comes to the possible cost for the player under contract until 2026, a deal won’t come cheap, which is why they suggest Brighton will demand around £45-million from any sale.

I liked how emotional he got when he scored for them.

But yeah, as cited below, seems unlikely now we signed Perisic – and Conte seems to like Sess.

A very good player. We have 4 duds at WB and none of them are even fit for a top-4 squad.

It’s the weakest part of the team, he would make a huge difference imo.

The main papers and websites are all playing Chinese whispers these days. They guess and fabricate.. Paratici and Conte don’t go round telling everyone who their main targets are. Journos see them at certain clubs and connect the dots. They don’t know unless they’re told.. Expect Reggie to get sold mate.. Pau Torres would be a decent signing.

Cucu is class from Barca academy I believe. But we already have 3 left wingbacks and have bigger needs elsewhere.

You’re spot on.. His market value is just 18 million. So there’s no way we’ll be paying double that for him.. Plus we already got Perisic to play left wing back.

Ok, So how come they do not have scope on the out goings. Isn’t that a crucial part of who gets signed? Perfectly setup, we know Sessengnon is staying, what is the news on Reggie? Today they will be making up stories about Bremer and Pau Torres now that Bastoni drop the curtain.

It appears Spurs will be linked with every Tom , Dick & Cucerella just on the whim of a journo looking for copy .
To suggest £45m plus for this chap is bordering insanity , are his performaces really worthy of such lofty proportion ?
My stance is , always is always will be , Mr Conte knows his onions [ and lemons] and this one is a non-starter………….. C O Y S !
