Report – Tottenham among the clubs looking to sign Welsh international

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is one of the teams looking to raid Bournemouth after their relegation from the Premier League.

The Cherries have just been demoted from the English top-flight, and they are expected to lose some of the key players as several Premier League sides have identified them as ideal for their respective squads.

Star Sports claims that Spurs have joined the race to sign Bournemouth’s David Brooks.

The Welshman is one of the biggest players in the Cherries’ team and he will not want to play in the Championship.

Spurs aren’t the only team looking to sign him with Everton and West Ham also looking to land the 23-year-old.

The report claims that he is one of two players that Jose Mourinho wants to sign with Callum Wilson, also interesting the Lilywhites.

Brooks is a skilful midfielder that has impressed since he moved to the Premier League, although injury kept him out for much of the just-concluded season.

Bournemouth will want to keep hold of their top players in a bid to make a swift return to the Premier League, however, with several teams looking to sign them, it will be hard.

It is unclear how much Bournemouth will quote Spurs for Brooks, but the Lilywhites will look to drive a hard bargain, especially if the player wants a Premier League return.

Another one whom we could have got for the price we paid for one of those french wasters, I’d prefer Saint Maximin, but if not I’d take Brooksy.

Definitely not worth that. He’d have to be banging in 20 a season to get that sort of money.

I would like him, but the reported fee of 40 million is too high and well out of our reach. He was injured most of the season, so I would not pay more than 15-20 million!

If Villas prized asset JackGrealish is valued in the region of £75m-£90m.
Then presumably cheaper bargain basements, Messrs Brooks and Cantwell must be worth in the region of £35m- £40m?
