Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Lyon pair Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele in Champions League action, according to The Mirror.
The exclusive report from John Richardson understands that Spurs eyes were in attendance at both of Lyon’s games with Benfica, in which Depay grabbed a goal in each.
The 25-year-old spent 18 difficult months at Manchester United, where he scored two goals in 33 Premier League appearances, but has shown the Red Devils that they were wrong not to keep faith by blossoming into a top performer for club and country.

Depay has scored 11 goals in 14 games for Lyon this season and notched a brace in Netherlands’ 3-1 win over Northern Ireland last month.
The Mirror understands that Depay is our preferred target out of the two Lyon forwards and that we are considering a £50m bid.
Spurs have had a long-standing interest in Dembele and nearly signed him from Fulham in January 2016 before he moved to Celtic, as Sky Sports reports.
Opinion: While Spurs apparently prefer Depay, I’d be tempted to go for Dembele as a recognised striker in support of Harry Kane, rather than another versatile forward who is not natural in the position.

I think Kane looks tired and disheartened. He needs a break and I couldn’t agree more poch used to play who deserved to play. He gave everyone a chance and they proved themselves not up to it and were replaced. The best played and if you wanted to play you had to do better. He now plays the favorites or most famous. i don’t care what they did last year or the year before, what are they doing now!
Just watched the blades goal again, our defending was atrocious! 23 uncontested passes from their keeper to the back of our net , no press or even pressure put on any player ! One miss timed slide tackle . The worst culprit were the attacking 4 ,Kane being the worst tbh walking around . Did we not have an agreement in place to buy Dembele from Fulham but it fell through as we would not loan him back? I cannot see us paying £50 mill for Depay in January , it’s not in Levy’s DNA.
I would personally rotate Moura, Alli, Son and LoCelso better and look at parts of the pitch where we REALLY need help, namely defence (the whole back line) and midfield (someone to move the play forward, and a holding style).
