Report: Spurs Could Be Offered £42m Eriksen Escape Route

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham Hotspur could be thrown a lifeline in the Christian Eriksen transfer saga by Manchester United in January, El Desmarque understands.

Eriksen is out of contact at the end of the season so Spurs face losing one of their most valuable assest for nothing. The Guardian wrote last summer that Daniel Levy once valued the Dane at £130m.

However, the latest reports from Spain suggest that Spurs may yet have the opportunity to cash in the 27-year-old as United are preparing a £42m bid.

WATCH: Potential Eriksen Replacement Scores For Sporting

El Desmarque reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to partner Eriksen with Paul Pogba to make United’s midfield one of the most creative and feared in the Premier League.

Both Pogba and Eriksen had been heavily linked to Real Madrid but El Desmaqrue adds that the La Liga giants now view Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz as their most plausible midfield target.

Selling Eriksen for £42m with six months left on his contract would be a result for Spurs and would allow us to move on from a once great player whose heart no longer seems to be in it.

It remains to be seen whether Eriksen would welcome United’s advances, but he may need to consider other options if Madrid are doing the same.

Never been much of an Eriksen fan myself, great on his day but too many off days and generally at crucial times.

He and Lamela are all that’s left of what Levy and Baldini bought with the Bale money. None of the players they bought went on to do anything much, Eriksen is just the best of a bad bunch…

Anyway as long as he’s gone I don’t really care. Don’t want him playing for the legends in the future

As a free transfer I think there will be a few options for him. Levy wanted some unrealistic fee for him during the summer. He’s only 27, so the clubs wait 8 months and get him on a free. Can’t see him at Manure somehow…

It won’t happen this summer, looks like you’re going to be homeless…

really?? I think he will go in the summer unless we win stuff, I would put my house on it if it Poch left before then. Kane is in his prime, he will know he will get a stellar 5yr deal now, and likely win some stuff.

Just watched the Utd.highlights.They look to be getting their act together and Rashford could have had 3 or 4 alone.Just us and Woolwich failing to produce anything worth watching.

Just seen Liverpool game… Talk about rigged. City should have had 2 penalties and Salah was more off than some I have seen given this weekend. That was a pure joke.

“it’s now (and the future) that’s important” People talking rubbish about we never did this and we shoulda done that. Coulda signed maddison and other players on the cheap. (Though when his name was mentioned people were saying “typical cheap levy) If we never built our super stadium we’d be.. ? No one can tell me for sure where we’d be but I can tell you for sure our money making stadium is built. (Top top welders worked on it😁) also Levy never shoulda allowed players contracts to run down bla bla bla. Well he did. The past is where it is. Now and the future is what’s important.

Is that rigged too? “The premier League has already decided Liverpool will win the league? If you say so.

And if none of the big clubs in Spain want him? He’ll end up at juve I reckon. If the Madrid’s Barca juve and psg don’t want him he could end up at United on £3000k a week

We won’t need top four coz we gonna win the champions League 😁. There’s no fantastic teams in the competition.

Calm down everyone. Tottenham will be ok. Some so called fans on here seem happy we’re struggling. The ones who’ve turned their back on the club coz of the money wankers. Slag off the stadium and never even been inside. Those who love it when we lose. The one sided lot who moan when we lose and say nothing when we win. They ain’t real fans anyway. Divs

Fair point

And 11 points off the top 4 with 3/4 of the season to go. Every season you have predicted that Spurs would not achieve their aim of a top 4 place under Poch, alas, each time it has happened.

Ok, this season might be different given our start but your track record of predictions for Spurs’ prospects is fairly atrocious…

Wake up and smell the coffee beans mate. Currently sitting in 14th spot we are only 6 pts off the bottom 3!!

While I agree that a turnaround in form will be required sooner rather than later, 11 points isn’t an unassailable gap. Everyone outside the top four are dropping points all over the place and we will see if Leicester and S.U maintain their respective forms.

It will be tough but not impossible if we turn the corner soon. I felt that S.U were a bad opponent to play after the new look side playing well in Belgrade.

They looked leggy because many of them haven’t played much yet. They lack match fitness and stamina. I predict that all of them will improve, including Dier…

If things are this bad next season then things could change but he ain’t leaving this summer. I’d put my house on it, if I had a house…

Currently of course all doesn’t look well, the results aren’t good enough. However, I agree with Poch, we are in a transitional phase whilst trying to compete.

We needn’t have been in this situation had Levy been more proactive with transfers in and out and contract situations, all of which are his responsibility.

More concerned with the lighting contract at the NFL gaff than football. He should be replaced with a football man, he’s a property developer pretending to run a football club. He’s a tit…

Apparently Moussa Sissoko thinks Tottenham Hotspur can still finish in a top-four position. Delusional or what?!
1. Liverpool
2. Citeh
3. Chelski
4. Leicester

Forget the last 5 seasons (nearly won this nearly won that). Thats history. It’s now that is important when clearly all is not well on the western front!

Optimism based on the last 5 seasons, rather than tabloid style knee jerk reaction and click bait sensationalism? Of course…

Eriksen wants to go somewhere in Southern Europe, preferably Spain. Why on earth would he fancy playing somewhere even colder than London when he’s promised his family 5 years in the sun?

Manure are even worse than us at the moment, more drudgery in England? I don’t think so.

This is an old story from when Utd showed interest at the end of the summer window, neither he or his agent were interested. He’ll get a free on big wages to Spain in the summer. This rumour is garbage…

You think he has no ambition or just stupid? Only way he stays is top 4 finish, a healthy CL run and a trophy.

Kane isn’t leaving Spurs any time soon. Trust me…

It’s quite possible Kane could leave in the summer, but my worry would be along with the money for Eriksen giving us 200M? how much would be reinvested in the squad. My guess is none of it especially if a new manager comes in and he’s told that money is tight for a while what with the debt and all. This after Levy assuring everyone the debt would not impact transfer business.ENIC’s pockets will be lined though.

Kane would do well at City, Levy should sell him while he’s worth 150m

Given that freefalling West Ham usually raise their game against equally plummeting Spurs heading for a relegation scrap, despite Easty’s eternal optimism, our manager still scratching around searching for solutions seemingly time is rapidly running out for Poch before Levy is forced to press that ejector button.

Pogba and Eriksen together lol,did anybody not see Pogba down tools under Mourinho and get jeered by home supporters at the last game of the season for his lazy attitude now Eriksen has been woeful for Spurs this season after not getting a dream move last summer, they will hardly put the fear in any of the top sides.Anybody willing to pay for Eriksen would be a massive bonus for Spurs.
