Report: Spurs joining Wolves, Newcastle in pursuit of Sporting midfielder

By Eddie Razo -

This summer, the midfield will be a focus of improvement despite adding Rodrigo Bentancur this past January transfer window. They also are expecting Pape Matar Sarr, who will be arriving in a couple of months after remaining on loan with FC Metz.

According to Record, Tottenham is one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha. Spurs hope to land the midfielder with Wolverhampton Wanders and Newcastle United also expressing interest.

Palhinha can play anywhere in the midfield, but his best position is as a defensive midfielder, where he’s played all season for Sporting. In this campaign, the 26-year-old made 30 appearances, scoring three goals for the reigning champions, and is under contract until 2026.

When it comes to the price, the Portugal international has a €60-million release clause, but the report states the Portuguese side is willing to sell for a price north of €30-million this summer if a club wants to meet their demands.

I was actually being facetious, difficulty is always put forward by Levy as an excuse why deals never come to fruition. He fails to see himself as the problem.

eddie you have to understand the game
“haggle over the price and the terms how much upfront and add ons, then you finally agree a price and then a couple of days later while the selling club are deep into negotiations for a replacement you contact the selling club to tell them the £34m price you agreed 2 days ago is now £28m take it or leave it”.
It’s all part of the game

We are tenuously linked to a player virtually every day, this is yet another.
