Report: Nabil Bentaleb Looking For Premier League Return

By Joe Fish -

A familiar face could be returning to the Premier League in January.

Accordng to Sky Sports, Nabil Bentaleb has been made available for transfer by Schalke 04, three and a half years after joining them from Spurs.

Schalke are supposedly looking to sell although Sky Sports understands that most of the 25-year-old midfielder’s suitors are lining up loan proposals.

The report adds that Bentaleb’s preference would be to come back to England, where he made 66 appearance for Spurs after breaking into the team under Tim Sherwood, alongside Harry Kane and Ryan Mason.

At one point the Algerian looked every bit as good a prospect as Kane, but perhaps lacked the same maturity and focus, and eventually a fallout with Mauricio Pochettino, as The Independent details, saw him sold in 2017.

Used as a holding player at Spurs, Bentaleb is a more complete midfielder these days, as a record of 19 goals in 97 appearances for Schalke proves.

He would appear to be a good addition for any mid-table Premier League club in the upcoming transfer window, and I’d be intrigued to watch him week in, week out again to see the player that Bentaleb has turned into.

No, not even for even for some mid- table Premier League club. Sort of buy that eventually gets the manager the sack.
