Tottenham Hotspur is one of the several European clubs that have their eyes on SL Benfica striker Darwin Núñez. The 22-year-old will be moving this summer as the Portuguese side hopes to cash in on the bidding war that he will create in the transfer market.
AS reports Benfica doesn’t plan to accept a fee of less than €100-million for the transfer of Núñez and intends to hold out for €130-million. Furthermore, the Uruguay international’s agent, Jorge Mendes, plans with several Premier League clubs this week.
Furthermore, the report states that Manchester United reportedly leads the race to sign the striker. Along with The Red Devils, the other Premier League clubs hoping to land Núñez are Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
There are no further details about whether Spurs will jump in the mix for him. The north London club did send scouts to get a first-hand look at the player during Benfica’s UEFA Champions League matchup against The Reds.
Nonetheless, if Tottenham does get into the race, they might have to prepare themselves to spend big to win the race for Núñez.
