The central defense is an area on the squad that Tottenham Hotspur want to reinforce this summer and one of the prime targets that the north London club has had their eyes on is Villarreal’s Pau Torres.
Last summer, Spurs were keen on Torres, but the Spain international opted to remain with The Yellow Submarine to play in UEFA Champions League competition. However, this year, the La Liga side is ready to cash in on the 25-year-old.
However, Tottenham will have a stiff race as transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United has Torres as one of the three or four options to improve their central defense.
Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is set to take over at Old Trafford, and it will have the call on whether he wants The Red Devils to pursue Torres. As a result, there’s no proposal yet from them.
In a recent report, the north London club has growing “confidence” that they could sign Torres for around the £45-million mark. If Spurs want the Villarreal star, they’ll have to act fast when the summer transfer window opens.
There are plenty of CB options out there, it’s whether Levy / Paratici will choose the right one.
