Report gives the latest details on PSG’s pursuit of Spurs manager Antonio Conte

By Eddie Razo -

Over the past few days, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has seen his name in connection to the pending Paris Saint-Germain job that will reportedly be open when they sack manager Mauricio Pochettino soon.

The French media speculates that Conte has offered himself for the position; however, the Telegraph reports that there is no contact yet between the Italian tactician and the capital club.

According to the English outlet, Conte would like to wait until the end of the season before deciding on his future. The Spurs manager has one more year left on his deal after the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign.

Conte will likely decide his future on how much he will be allowed to spend to improve the Tottenham squad that permits them to compete alongside Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea for domestic and international trophies.

If Spurs spends to his liking, then it would be safe to assume he will see out his final year of the contract to see if he can end the trophy drought for the north London club.

I’m not sure any manager can sort out this dysfunctional club resulting from some of the worst player recruitment in world football.
Conte might stay if Levy breaks the bank and brings in the quality players needed to get us back to challenging the top 3. The alternative being he will go somewhere with true ambition and he will expose Levy as the fraud he is.
But the fact remains that despite no European football to distract us and 3 decent signings to bolster the team, Conte is likely not able to get us over the line. Continuing to play the WB system without having any decent WB’s is akin to repeatedly hitting your thumb with the hammer without changing the way you hammer the nail.
Conte needs to adapt to the situation fast, he can’t always expect the DoF to splash the cash and solve his problems with money.
Playing Royal week in and week out is virtually reducing the team to playing with 10 men unless the opposition are weak or play an open defence that we can penetrate through the middle.
I’m not 100% convinced on Conte for Spurs from what I’ve seen this season, bearing in mind the embarrassment of the Conference league performances earlier this season.
The fact also remains that Conte has never won a European trophy or even taken his team to a CL final.
It’s now down to Levy to green light a huge spend on players that can impact the team from the word go, and ditch overnight his cheapskate kiddie speculation punts.
Make no mistake this is a huge crossroads, give Conte what he wants, get Paratici active on selling all our flops over one summer, and replace them with tried and tested players, and hang the expense. It’s either that or watch us slide, and Mr Levy that will include attendances and merchandise sales too.
