Tottenham Hotspur has been looking for a midfielder to help build their spine for the squad. Over the past few months, the north London club has been linked to AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié, and it appears as though they might have to look elsewhere.
According to Calciomercato.com, the 25-year-old has rejected the opportunity to join the north London club.
Tottenham and Milan have been talking about Kessié over the past few days, and the two clubs reportedly reached an agreement. However, the player stopped things, not wanting to move to England.
Kessié’s contract expires in June, and the report states that the midfielder wants to honor his contract. Furthermore, he doesn’t want to give up his leverage considering his contract expires in June, and he can choose his next destination.
The Ivory Coast international could indeed head to Tottenham, but he might want to start a bid and see which clubs offer the best deal for him to sign a pre-contract for next season.
Milan has reportedly offered him a salary of £5.4-million a year, but Kessie has resisted all offers of an extension, eyeing a bigger payday.
