Report: Enquiries Made For 23-year-old Real Madrid Loanee

By Joe Fish -

With so much to do and so little to spend, I wouldn’t categorise a new left-back as a priority for the summer transfer window. But we should certainly be scouring the market for an opportunity that is too good to turn down.

Going into the season with Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon would be less of a disaster than not improving our options on the defence’s other flank. However, Sergio Reguillon might be the aforementioned opportunity.

A lot of people out there might never have heard of the 23-year-old and that is because he’s been hiding in Real Madrid’s B Team for the last few years. Only this season, freed from the shadow of Marcelo with a loan spell at Sevilla, has the Spaniard broken through as one of La Liga’s best left-backs.

A report from ABC Sevilla claims that Tottenham has made enquiries over the availability of Reguillon who will be assessed by Zinedine Zidane upon returning from his loan spell before a decision is made on his future.

With Ferland Mendy having joined Real in 2019 to compete for the left-back spot at the Bernabeu, it is hard to see a space for Reguillon in their squad.

A third-choice left-back is a pretty disposable asset and Daniel Levy might fancy his chances of getting a good deal for the player, although ABC Sevilla understands that there is interest from around 10 other clubs in Europe.
