Report: Club has launched a late bid for 27-year-old

By Mehdi Gokal -

Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais have made a late bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez, as per L’Equipe.

Tottenham’s squad boasts a surplus of players who are not part of manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans, leading to transfer-listing decisions.

The Colombian defender, Sanchez, has previously been a target for Russian club Spartak Moscow, but the player declined the move due to the ongoing uncertainty in the region despite the clubs agreeing a fee.

Turkish club Galatasaray also showed strong interest in his services but failed to reach an agreement with Tottenham.

As the transfer deadline looms, Stade Rennais have entered the picture by making a late offer for Sanchez

As per the report, an offer worth €9m has been made for the defender but Spurs ‘would be ready to let go’ of the defender for in the region of €12.5m.

The player has only one year left in his contract and Tottenham for sure will want to agree a deal closest to their valuation and cash in on him instead of risking losing him on a free next year.

Sanchez, who arrived at Tottenham in 2017 with high expectations, has faced challenges in cementing his place in the squad and fulfilling his potential.

The prospect of a fresh start at Stade Rennais could provide the Colombian center-back with the opportunity to reignite his career and make a meaningful impact on the French club’s defensive lineup.

With Spurs looking to sell the player and the player also keen on a fresh start, a deal with the Ligue 1 side is expected to be completed before the transfer window shuts
