A left-sided center-back is atop the needs that Tottenham Hotspur plans to address this summer. Last year, the north London club added Cristian Romero, and Eric Dier appears to be settling in under manager Antonio Conte, but an upgrade over Ben Davies is the route Spurs will take.
Earlier this month, The Atheltic put together a list of four targets that Tottenham will be looking at to fill the need, and one of those players was Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck.
However, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports Schlotterbeck has agreed to a deal with Borussia Dortmund. No further information regarding the details of the agreement, but Spurs will have to cross the 22-year-old off their list now.
The other three players that Spurs will be eyeing to fill that role this summer will be Josko Gvardiol, Alessandro Bastoni, and Sven Botman. This season, Schlotterbeck has made 34 appearances where he’s scored four goals and recorded one assist.
If the plan is keeping Dier as the main CB we are not going to progress, Davies has been excellent.
Rinse and repeat every ruddy window.
Sell before you buy ..= buy last minute..
I’ve made the same point myself.Conte’s demeanor now gives off the impression his work here is done here,he can’t produce anymore.
lf that is the case we are in for a very painful summer.
For once this isnt a moan but I expect many of our targets to be snapped up by better teams.
Just the way it is.
Kessie was my #1 pick and he went off the market ages ago so Dybala and more will not come.
But compared to our wing backs he is safe. You can’t play a WB system without wing backs.
It’s all about priorities.
Ben Davies is at best a squad player along with Dier.
There will be lots of names mentioned before the season ticket deadline and then shortly after one by one these names will be crossed off. If we fail to get CL then I see Conte leaving. In fact the lack of desire shown by this mob against Brighton and Brentford leads me to believe that behind the scenes the players may already be aware that he may be going.
I think wing backs are priority over a CB at this pint in time. Ben Davies does a decent job for now.
All this going on while Levy was debating how low to pitch his bid.Same old same old.
