Report: Arsenal, Tottenham keen on Bayer Leverkusen’s €30M rated starlet

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur will be keen on upgrading its backline this summer. Manager Antonio Conte operates a three at the back system, and while Critisian Romero and Eric Dier are pillars, an upgrade over Ben Davis could be in the cards.

Plenty of targets are in the cards, and the latest is Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié. Argentine newspaper Olé (via Futbol Ecuador) reports that Spurs, Arsenal, and AS Roma are the three clubs eyeing the Ecuador international.

The Argentine media outlet adds that Bayer Leverkusen would not accept less than €30 million for the 20-year-old. Last year, the German club landed the young defender from the Argentine side Talleres de Córdoba for about $7 million and is under contract until 2026.

Despite his young age, Hincapié proved his value in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and became unmovable for Gustavo Alfaro in the Ecuador national team, as he did equally at Bayer Leverkusen, led by Swiss coach Gerardo Seoane.

Hincapié has made 33 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring two goals and recording one assist this season.
