Real Madrid valuation is likely to put Tottenham off making a move for defender

By Bruce Grove -

Sergio Reguilon can be a Tottenham player this summer, but the Lilywhites will have to pay 25 million Euros to land him, according to AS.

The defender has been on loan at Sevilla this season after he fell down the pecking order at Real Madrid.

He has been in fantastic form for the Europa League campaigners this season, and his fine form helped them finish this campaign in the La Liga top four.

They are still in contention for the Europa League this season, and his success on loan has made him a player in demand.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all vying for him and they have now been told how much he will cost.

Ben Davies is the only recognisable left-back at Tottenham at the moment, and the club knows that they need more options in that position as they face playing games across four competitions next season.

Danny Rose’s career at Spurs is all but over, and Reguilon could be a fine replacement who might even beat Davies to the first-choice spot.

The report claims that the Spaniard will be made available for permanent transfer in this window because he will not be able to play ahead of both Marcelo and Ferland Mendy at Madrid.

His asking price might, however, scupper a move to Spurs as the Lilywhites do not have the resources to spend that much on a defender that would not be a guaranteed starter and especially when there are other positions in the team that need strengthening first.

We just need a quality right back to keep serge out of the big games. I’d keep him I would. He just needs more time to learn from Jose. I’d understand if we sold him though. We’d need two new right backs then.

15m is about right, 20m in the pre Covid market. He’s just not a complete full back, he’s quick and physically good and can overlap well. Give him a half decent wide player to defend against and both he and his team are f**cked. Liability players don’t fetch much…
