Real Madrid star set to spoil Jose Mourinho’s transfer plans

By Bruce Grove -

Marca says that Luka Modric has agreed to extend his stay at Real Madrid for another season dashing Tottenham’s hopes of landing him.

After bringing back Gareth Bale in the summer, Jose Mourinho was reportedly trying to persuade Modric to make a return to north London.

The Croatian would have been able to speak to new teams from next month as he struggled to extend his Madrid deal.

However, the report says that he has always wanted to remain in Madrid and he was even willing to take a pay cut to achieve that.

His current deal was to expire at the end of this season, but he will remain in Madrid until 2022 now which would mean he has spent 10 years at the club.

Spurs are mounting a title challenge this season and they have some of the best midfielders in the league, however, the experience of Modric might have helped them achieve even more things in the second half of the season.

If the Croatian doesn’t join, Spurs might look at signing another player next month or perhaps they will just manage with their current options.

Modric’s new deal hasn’t been officially announced by Madrid yet and that might mean that Spurs can still get their man if they push harder for him.

I thought it was a done deal. Did it fall through because of money? Botchs whole attitude changed when we didn’t sign him.. I had hardly seen him play for sporting.. Spinny mc spinners, all we had was a few you tube videos of him spinning around alot 😆 He’s a great player though. I would take him over Pogba.

Bruno is a beast. He’s a big reason why Manure are back in contention.

Grealish over Sabitzer all day. I love Grealish too. If I could pick a player right now for the club then it would be him.. Ward Prowse has come on leaps and bounds he can play.. Still Grealish is superior….. Its rather wishful thinking that Botch would suddenly want to buy spurs deadwood. And the likes of tintin.. At PSG he will have more money than any club to spend. He will be able to buy the top and the best.. Dele and Tintin are bottle jobs. They bottled that final plus the league.

Daily mail, talksport. Daily Express claimed there was a phone call… Modders has already spoke on this when Bale came… At 35 he said he’s too old to return. He wants to finish his career at Madrid……. If there was a phone call then Jose and Modders would know.. Not sure how the media have listened in unless they are hacking phone lines again… It has to be nonsense.

Nothing to do with Spurs but thought I’d mention it anyway:
A 93-year-old postmistress – believed to be the country’s oldest – is retiring after 80 years of service.
Kay White started working at the Post Office in her home village of Claverley, Shropshire, at just 14. In 1960 she became the branch’s postmistress, a position she has held ever since.

Her secret for a long career was “liking people and helping one another”

Eddie whilst we share a common bond of being Brummies
we are not related but as you may have noticed I admire his silky skills and wish he was strutting his stuff for Spurs.
Agreed about PEH.

I’m starting to wonder if Grealish is your secret lovechild DD.Not a comment goes by without his name inserted in the text somewhere.
Seriously Sabitzer would be a good bet, however Modric is too old and Levy would never countenance it.
It’s unlikely, but I would like to see a big effort to get Ward- Prowse.A terrier in midfield with a good range of passing and a set piece specialist, which we don’t have, certainly no on any consistent basis. That would allow Sissoko to join Dele,Aurier and Eriksen to join Poch at PSG.
Also when the new squads are announced at the end of January, name PEH as captain.

Ideal signing. Not to be. Let’s move on as we have done on Grealish.
Did I say Grealish?. If only!
