When Tottenham signed Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid this season, everyone was happy about his homecoming, and he was expected to become one of the main players at the club, helping them to win trophies.
He hadn’t played much football for the last few years, so he was given the time he needed to recuperate and get into shape.
Yet Bale hasn’t shown much better form and he certainly doesn’t look like he will reach the heights that he attained during his first stint at Tottenham.
Because of this, AS says Real Madrid already believes that he will return from Spurs at the end of this season.
His loan move away from the Bernabeu had helped Madrid to shed some money off their huge wage bill.
Bale’s return would mean that they will have to start paying his full salary again unless he can find another team to take him on loan.
The injuries that Bale has suffered throughout his career seem to have taken a toll on him and he might never be the kind of player that some Tottenham fans expected him to be.
He is currently injured after suffering calf problem, but the club has been doing very well in his absence and that has placed further doubt on his importance to the team.
I keep asking this question who is in charge of Spurs medicals. N’Dombele, Lo Celso, Bale all arrived either injured, unfit or both?
Anyone expecting him to be the player he was when he left is a nutter. He was one of the best in the world, strong, young, full of confidence.
That doesn’t mean he can’t offer something though, I don’t think he’s any worse that Moura, Bergwjin or Lamela for example, but I think we’re all still hoping there is maybe one more MoM performance in the locker.
One 30yd screamer into the to corner before the end of the season and we’ll all go home happy.
A lot can change between now and the end of the season but it doesnt look good for now
