We live in an era where and facts – and indeed even ideas – have taken second place to feelings.
How you feel has become far more important than what has actually happened or could happen.
We’re in an era where the value of specific issues are now actually eclipsed by the activists.
The police are investing people who make others feel bad about themselves by either direct instances of ignorance, or by making a joke that was deemed to be inappropriate.
Vegetarianism had only just begun to distance itself from the lunacy of knitting your own shoes and soaking mung-beans for days on end, when Veganism rocked up and its lunatic fringe managed to distract from the scientifically proven super health and planet friendly benefits by screaming at diners in a steak house.
Elsewhere, if you feel like you want to identify as a woman, despite still being possession of your wedding vegetables, then this is now being facilitated in public toilets and changing rooms across the nation.
Racism is never far from the ‘feelings’ discussion.
Last night on LBC The Mirror’s Darren Lewis rang in to a teatime show in respect of the ‘glass ceiling’ that people of colour faced in football – his call prompted by this Raheem Sterling business.
Needless to say, his gentle inferences with which he attempted to frame the discussion dismissed Chris Hughton as a pretty much a one-off and managed to avoid referencing Garth Crooks entirely.
Equally, there was zero acknowledgement to the success of black pundits such as Rio Ferdinand, Dwight Yorke, Paul Ince, and Ian Wright etc.
Instead we got some rather mealy mouthed suggestions that racial prejudice ran rife in the game.
Conveniently there was also no referencing of the absence of Sikhs or Chinese football managers in England. Just mumbling about black men been quietly shuffled away from opportunity.
Raheem Sterling’s allegation that two very similar stories were headlined with two different slants is factually incorrect.
He feels that there is a bias, but in fact, the headlines are 100% accurate.
Foden has played 13 senior games for Manchester City. Hardly a box office name, but he is clearly good enough for Pep Guardiola to use occasionally.
Tosin Adarabioyo has played 0 senior games for Manchester City. Perhaps one for the future, who knows?
This is clear example of feelings eclipsing what was normal reporting.
Anthony Joseph of The Daily Mail who wrote the Adarabioyo piece probably went to bed last night fretting about if he might be arrested today, let alone what his ‘second’ career might end up being.
The truth is, a kid- who happens to be black – hasn’t even kicked a ball for City in a Premier League game yet and he’s already a millionaire. That may be an example of everyday craziness, but it is crazy nevertheless.
Facts don’t care about feelings.
Which is why when your Aunt Dolly is unwell, you get the doctor out to her. Lighting a candle isn’t going help her get up and about again.
Nobody cares how you feel, Raheem, and this invented ‘pity me’ routine debases what is a serious issue – as our friendly neighbourhood bigots at Chelsea Football Club appear to have proved yet again.
Everything’s well cushy in the Middle East and Timor I hear…

Yup.
Not the world, just the West
Officially the World has gone potty with no hope of return.
How is Sterling’s fault for walking into every team of England? does he selects himself or England manager selects the players and what is that got to do with racist and racism?
Check out the poor guy’s Twitter.
The best part is that Joseph isn’t white – you couldn’t make it up. Brilliant!

Someone on the radio without laughing out loud said Sterling was ‘brave’ and the first black player to speak out???! Huh? John Barnes made a second career out of it, I’ve lost count over the years of rich black footballers ‘speaking out’…Sterling is no pioneer. Just another one plugging the agenda as it quickly became not about racism but about, and I quote, “how we all have to think about what we say”….and therein lies the crux.
If either mum is reading I find older women incredibly alluring – call me.

Its the Ozil excuse. He’s been desperately ineffective for England yet walks into every team, that and the awful way he behaved at Liverpool are the reasons people dislike him, not the colour of his skin. When Rashford, a black footballer, put one in the top bin to cap a MOTM performance in the pre WC friendly and STILL didn’t get in the side ahead of Sterling(who had been utter bollox) or anyone I don’t recall him crying racism. Its a joke.
My Great Uncle died of cancer – I’m toying with the idea of getting a pipe tattooed across my chest
Social media has turned these things into a virus.
The British traditionally a resilient, kind, courageous, and intelligent bunch. Why else would my lot want to maintain our ties to the “mother country”.
Howrver, your ruling “class” are cowards (right wing), and deceitful and evil (left wing).
If it was a racist comment then the fan or fans should be banned, end of.
However, I have heard pretty vile abuse thrown at players that come to take throws at matches. Stuff about their families, wives, kids, really nasty vile and sick stuff which is aimed specifically personally at the player.
Abuse around race is totally unacceptable, of course it is but so is that kind of stuff too. Shouldn’t this other stuff be punished as well or is the line drawn just on race? Shout stuff about raping a player’s mother and that goes unpunished?
All of it is vile and I understand that racism affects wider society but why should this other stuff be tolerated or ignored as just nasty ‘banter’ when race isn’t?
I thought saying that he wasn’t surprised about racists in football alongside the negative stereotypes thing was a bit clumsy.
Name calling in reference to one’s skin colour is plain racist, it’s not influenced by supposedly negative bias towards players from a specific race. It’s almost as if the press are an excuse for it.
I’m confused by all of it, racism is what it is, nasty stuff. If you can’t criticise someone equally because they happen to be from a ‘minority’ group then that’s racist in itself. Surely?
The pack mentality approach is quite terrifying.
Clyde best be like “racial abuse from the terraces” these young bucks don’t know the meaning of the words. He f u c k e d off to America to coach I believe.
I agree with Raheem as I have seen the tattoo on his leg
I love it when a multi millionaire crys discrimination… It makes me all fuzzy wuzzy inside. Listening to media outlets today I didn’t realise they’ve all just this minute discovered football fans yell obscenities at opposition players when they come over to take a corner etc….all these years eh? Oh, and Chelsea fans can be a little racial, that’s another bombshell.
What Balderdash.
I like how he “feels” the negative press about his footballing performances constitutes racism (or at the least enables it)…so now we cant comment about poor performance of players…yet they are allowed to play like dog guana on our dimes… So perhaps the press have never complained about a white player? Or is it that perhaps he gets more focus as being one of the highest paid England players yet offers nothing.
In reference to the two young players above, I think that it is refreshing to hear that they splashed out over 2 million to buy their mums a new house rather than a new roller, rolex or copious amounts of recreational drugs for themselves. Mind you, their mums would probably be happy with a 500 thousand pound house and a million in their bank accounts instead.
Seems like Sterling is determined to make a career out of missing the target.
Read what I wrote.
I addressed the accusation that a Daily Mail journo had targeted a black player’s house purchase because he was black. The accusation was false, as the focus of the headline was on the fact the player had not yet played a single Premier League game.
In the respect of black managers etc again I specifically addressed What appeared to be a cultural issue – unless you at suggesting that Chinese players face even greater discrimination than black ones.
As for racism generally in the game, this was addressed in my closing comment about Chelsea fans.
Kindly note this blog made no reference to price of fish as it was specifically about Raheem Sterling’s false accusation.

So what is the point? Mr HH are you denying there is racists and racism or your topic is about the writer of the article and that article, they are 2 different topics why you lumping them together? And why you pointing the Pundits and at the same time not the Management and what point it proves by pointing 4 black Pundits, does that eradicated racists and racism? enlighten us please if you do not mind with all due respect thanks.
