Pundit says Kane’s future talks may have affected Spurs against Villa

By Bruce Grove -

Pundit Micah Richards made the obvious observation that Spurs were poor in their defeat at home to Aston Villa yesterday.

The Lilywhites welcomed some fans to their stadium for the game after a long absence because of the coronavirus pandemic.

We expected the return of fans to spur them on to victory even though this has been a poor season for them.

They started the game brightly and scored an early goal. However, a horror show from Sergio Reguilon saw them concede two goals.

The first was an own goal by the Spaniard, who then gifted Ollie Watkins the second in an awful first-half display.

Villa defended their lead well until the end of the game, but Richards says Spurs looked off the pace and questioned if they had allowed talk of Harry Kane leaving to affect them.

The England captain has told the club he wants to go and he might have played his last game at home as a Spurs player.

‘They were awful, they started well. They got the goal through Bergwijn and they looked in control for the first 10 minutes,’ Richards said on Sky Sports via the Daily Mail.

‘Then Reguilon did not have his best game if I am totally honest. It just felt flat today, I don’t know why, they had their fans in stadium and so maybe there was more expectation.

‘Reguilon makes a mistake, not once, but twice, and the fans felt let down. Villa were really good, but Spurs were really bad. I don’t know if talk of Kane potentially leaving if it had an effect on the squad or confidence.

‘But Spurs were awful today. At least under Mason they have had a little bit of spirit and fight, but today there was none of that, which I was very surprised with to be honest.’

The “team” didn’t appear for an hour to show their appreciation, that sounds to me they didn’t want to face the fans and had to be ordered out. I’m excepting the players you named from that. Sections of the crowd booed them off at half and full time. That was reported by some one at the game.

Nothing affected Spurs loss for their last game in home for the season no excuses we are just crap team. One of the Levy effect that Spurs team has developed through the years is that they always have an excuses when they are crap and that become a habit even large parts of Spurs fans and it needs to be rooted out for good.

THIS CLUB IS TOXIC ROOT AND BRANCH
“The players and coaches will show their appreciation at the final whistle and thank you for your fantastic support in such extraordinary circumstances.” Daniel Levy Chairman…………….. such is the club’s appreciation that I believe these players and coaches did not show up for nearly an hour after the match ended by which time most supporters had left the stadium after being advised to. Kane showed his integrity and love for the club by staying on the pitch and doing a solo lap of honour after the whistle. That is why he is too good to stay at this pathetic excuse for a football club. Once again Daniel Levy’s words mean nothing and until ENIC and Levy depart nothing of any value will change other than another cycle of rinse and repeat.

Some have said that the last manager’s methods of having less possession and inviting the opposition onto us exposes our weak defence, resulting in mistakes and goals conceded.

Yesterday, we had about 60% possession and conceded about 20 shots, often from quick turnovers of possession, and two defensive mistakes cost us the goals.

The defence just needs a total overhaul. Away with Dier, Aurier, Doherty, give Reg a kick up the backside and start Rodon.

Hopefully Japhet’s injury isn’t as bad as it seemed!

Correct Levy is so out of touch with the fanbase he might as well be on Mars. I think he really believes that he is God’s gift to football chairman, that’s the really scary part.

LOL as if the Villa game was our only bad performance this season – if only!

The atmosphere behind the scenes at this club must be absolutely toxic. This falls on Levy’s watch. It is a manifestation of ENICs ownership, lack of integrity, and lack of football ambition. The puerile comments of Levy’s pr spin in the match program further reinforces this and until these parasites leave the club nothing of any significance will change other than another pointless cycle of rinse and repeat.
