Pundit: £120k per week Premier League winner is on his way to Tottenham

By Bruce Grove -

Former Sky Sports pundit Richard Keys has claimed on his The Keys and Gray show that Chelsea forward Willian is on his way to Tottenham this summer.

According to some reports, the 31-year-old is demanding £120k per week and Keys reckons that the Brazilian forward has already spoken to Jose Mourinho.

Willian will be out of contract at the end of next month after he was unable to agree on a new deal with Chelsea and is apparently open to a move to either Tottenham or Arsenal.

How Keys knows that the player has spoken to Mourinho or that he has decided on the move to the Tottenham stadium has not been revealed and it does smack of a bit of guesswork but it does not mean he is wrong.

It is no secret that Mourinho likes Willian and has a fondness for experienced players but £120k per week? Can any of us really see Daniel Levy agreeing to that sort of wage for a player that will be 32 next season with no sell on value? I cannot.

It should also be noted that this is a player that agreed to sign for Tottenham before he joined Chelsea, he even had a medical before changing his mind at the last minute.

Would the Tottenham fans welcome such an individual that is clearly looking for that one final big payday? I am not sure they would.

That said, there would be no transfer fee and if Mourinho wants him desperately enough then who knows, it could happen.

On a free, probably a 2yr deal? Absolutely. 120k when you didn’t have to pay anything for him, good business. Get him in.

2 year deal will cost £12m in wages. Presently, he plays double the amount of games Lamela plays. Sell Erik and Willian replaces him. If he puts in a shift every game he can win fans over. He does that for the blue racists. Any sign of petulance and he’s dead. No kissing of the badge though, unless it is at Stamford Bridge!

He’ll get a lukewarm reception, unless he astonishes us by going on a goal scoring spree. Doesn’t fill a position of need, ie defensive midfielder or centre back.

Personnally I think he still has a lot to offer. I was pissed off when he ditched us for Chelsea but at that time I don’t think you could blame a player for that decision. he’s won the league with Chelsea, we’ve won sod all.

It’s going to be a very tough transfer window so any decent players that come in with no fee are very welcome in my book.
